1953 Buick Skylark

This 1953 Buick Skylark was refurbished under prior ownership and spent time in Ohio before being purchased by the current owner. The car is finished in blue with a white convertible soft top over blue and white leather upholstery, and power is from a 322ci Nailhead V8 linked with a two-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted drum brakes, chrome 15″ wire wheels, a heater, a Selectronic AM radio, and power windows. This Skylark is now offered on dealer consignment with an owner’s guide, shop manuals, a jack, and a clean Texas title. The Skylark was introduced in 1953 to celebrate Buick’s 50th anniversary, and it borrowed styling cues from the company’s 1951 Le Sabre and XP-300 show cars. This example was delivered from the factory finished in Reef Blue and was repainted under prior ownership. Details include a power-operated white convertible top, a bullet-style grille, a hood ornament, dual mirrors, stacked taillights, and chrome trim, bumpers, door handles, and window surrounds. The convertible top was recently serviced to correct a leak according to the selling dealer. Chrome 15″ wire wheels wear two-eared spinner center caps and are mounted with American Classic wide whitewall bias-ply tires, and a spare is secured in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at each corner. The bench seats are trimmed in blue and white leather upholstery and are accompanied by a color-coordinated dash, carpets, and door panels. Features include power windows, a heater and defroster, an analog clock, a Selectronic AM radio, and polished door sills with the Skylark script. The steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, a handful of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown. The 322ci Nailhead V8 was factory rated at 188 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, and it is equipped with an oil-bath style air cleaner, a four-barrel carburetor, and painted valve covers.
