Make: Aston Martin
Model: Aston Martin V8 (1977-1989)
Year: 1987

This 1987 Aston Martin V8 Volante was purchased new by the seller’s father at Newport Imports of California. Finished in blue over beige upholstery, the car is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a power-operated beige convertible top, 15″ BBS wheels, driving lights, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Pioneer CD stereo. The car received a replacement radiator in January 2024, and the gearbox was overhauled in anticipation of the sale. Now showing 68k miles, this V8 Volante is offered by the seller on behalf of their father with service records since new, an accident-free Carfax report, and a California title in the current owner’s name. Introduced in 1978, the Volante featured hand-built aluminum bodywork, a “power bulge” hood, and a power-operated convertible top. This example is finished in blue and features a power-operated beige soft top and a color-coordinated top boot. Further exterior details include driving lights, black bumpers, fender vents, polished rocker panel trim, power-adjustable mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. The right headlamp assembly was replaced in 2024, and a recent service invoice notes the top requires assistance to open. Basketweave 15″ BBS wheels are mounted with 235/70 Avon Turbosteel 70 tires, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with inboard rear rotors. The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in beige leather with blue piping that extends to the door panels. Wood veneers accent the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include power windows and door locks, cruise control, air conditioning, a Kienzle analog clock, and a Pioneer CD stereo. Wear is visible on the driver’s seating surface. A two-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in blue leather and fronts a 200-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and temperature, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 68k miles. The fuel-injected 5.3-liter V8 was factory rated at 305 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The radiator and starter were replaced in 2024 by Aston Martin of Newport Beach, California. A plaque identifying the engine builder is viewable in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled and resealed in anticipation of the sale. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery below. Service records since new will accompany the car. The Carfax report displays history in California since 1990. The car was designated a gross polluter by the state of California in 2002, and it last passed an emissions test in June 2024.
