$14,000
Make: Plymouth
Model: Plymouth Suburban
Year: 1950

This 1950 Plymouth Deluxe Suburban spent years in Idaho before it was moved to the Portland, Oregon area in the late 1970s. The car was sold to the second owner in the 1990s, and by the early 2000s it had been refinished in green over a refreshed white and brown interior. Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 paired with a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission, and modifications include a 9″ rear axle, power rack-and-pinion steering, power front disc brakes, 15″ wheels, air conditioning, tilt steering, a Kenwood stereo, a folding rear seat, sliding side windows, and a receiver hitch. This modified Plymouth was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and is now offered on dealership consignment with brochures, books, a folder of receipts, registration and inspection cards, refurbishment photos, a handmade wooden coat rack, a scale model, and a clean Oregon title. The car was refinished approximately two decades ago, at which point the brightwork was refreshed and the glass was replaced. An electric-locking Mopar fuel cap has been added along with a rear receiver hitch and reverse lights, and other features include sliding side windows as well as halogen headlights. The selling dealer points out some stone chips that have been touched up, and the paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below. Body-matching 15×6″ wheels have been powdercoated and wear hubcaps and beauty rings. They are mounted with 215/60 Grand Spirit Radial HR+4 front tires and 255/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A rear rubber. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering has been added, and the power braking system utilizes discs up front. The interior was redone in the 1990s and features a split-folding front bench seat and a folding rear bench with white tweed cloth upholstery. Brown carpeting covers the floors, including a removable liner at the rear. The aftermarket air-conditioning system and heater utilize the factory climate controls, and an electric windshield wiper, an under-dash hood release, and a trailer-brake controller also have been added. A Kenwood stereo is mounted in the center of the dashboard. A three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 100-mph speedometer, two combination gauges, and an Autogage tachometer to the right of the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, less than 100 of which have been added by the current owner over the past four years. True mileage is unknown, and the selling dealer notes that the dash lights are inoperable. The 350ci V8 is said have been sourced from a 1972 Chevrolet and utilizes four-bolt main bearings. An Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold handle induction, while spent exhaust travels through tubular headers, dual pipes with an H-shaped connecting section, and Flowmaster mufflers. An aftermarket alternator and radiator also have been installed, and the selling dealer replaced the valve-cover gaskets. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission with a shift kit and an aftermarket torque converter. The Ford 9″ rear axle utilizes a 3.25:1 final-drive ratio. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery. The items shown above will accompany the vehicle, including: Plymouth brochures and books Plymouth service manual Folder of receipts Assorted registration and inspection cards from Idaho and Oregon, dating back to 1977 Older photos, including refurbishment photos 1950 Oregon license plate Box for the locking Mopar fuel cap Matching scale model The suitcase, drink container, and dog pictured in the gallery are not included in the sale.
