This 1995 Porsche 911 race car began life as a road-going 993 model and was modified in period to GT2-specification by AASCO Motor Racing of Anaheim, California, reportedly utilizing factory components purchased from Porsche Motorsport. The car was driven by Martin Snow in IMSA competition in 1996 and 1997, including at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, where it is said to have finished on the podium in class in 1996. Power is from a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a 6-speed manual transaxle. The car retains its 1990s racing livery and is equipped with carbon fiber body panels, air jacks, a full roll cage, a fire-suppression system, and more. This 993 race car was purchased by the seller in 2017 and subsequently received a mechanical refurbishment by Alex Job Racing in 2018. It is now offered on a bill of sale in Florida with a manufacturer’s statement of origin, spare parts, recent service records, and literature chronicling the recent work. The tub was acid-dipped during the original conversion process by AASCO, and carbon fiber body panels, including the roof, were installed in place of factory components. Other work included removal of the rain gutters and the installation of a flush-fit windshield and multi-element rear wing. A refurbishment carried out by Alex Job Racing in 2018 included spot-painting where needed, including the front bumper, while maintaining the 1990s racing livery. The seller notes that IMSA tech stickers from the 1997 24 Hours of Daytona are still present on the car. Black center-lock wheels wear Michelin racing tires, and the car is also equipped with JRZ shocks, air jacks, and GT2 front bracing, as well as GT2 suspension and braking components. Work performed during the recent mechanical refurbishment included new brake rotors, lines, and hoses, along with new suspension bearings, new rod ends, rear sway bar repairs, and more. The factory interior has been replaced with a roll cage, Evo racing seat with a Schroth harness, a fire-suppression system, and a Momo steering wheel. A digital dashboard is also installed, and the seller notes that interior safety equipment was replaced during the 2018 refurbishment. The twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter flat-six was built by AASCO and is paired with a 6-speed manual transaxle. Equipment installed at the time of the initial build included a fabricated front oil tank and fuel cell, while work performed in the last year included a new clutch slave cylinder, carbon turbo intakes, hoses, gaskets, axles and more. The seller reports there are eight hours on the engine and gearbox since they were rebuilt by Bob Holcombe in 2016 during previous ownership. Photos provided in the gallery show the car during the 2018 mechanical refurbishment by Alex Job Racing. Spares included in the sale consist of an unpainted front bumper and a set of wheels. Service records covering the seller’s ownership are included in the sale along with a book compiled by Alex Job Racing documenting the refurbishment. The photo above shows the car on track during a heritage exhibition prior to the 2019 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. It was also invited to Rennsport Reunion VI at Laguna Seca and has reportedly been accepted to compete in the Masters Endurance Legends USA series for IMSA cars with a reserved spot for their support race at the 2019 US Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas. The seller has provided the following competition history for this car: 2/3/96, entered in the 24 Hours of Daytona by Martin Snow, 66th overall, 27th in class 3/17/96, entered in the 12 Hours of Sebring by Martin Snow, 8th overall, 3rd in class 2/1/97, entered in the 24 Hours of Daytona by Martin Snow, 25th overall, 5th in class 3/15/97, entered in the 12 Hours of Sebring by Martin Snow, 12th overall, 4th in class https://youtu.be/y-muit4KGRs?t=5574 The car can be seen in competition at Sebring in 1997 in the video above, as well as in another video of the same race.
