This Porsche 914-look race car is built on a custom tubular chassis covered in carbon fiber bodywork and powered by a 3.8L RSR-style flat-six paired with a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. It was commissioned by the seller approximately 30 years ago, and has been campaigned in the GT2, GT3, and GTP3 classes with the SCCA, among other sanctioning bodies. The car is finished in purple over a black-painted interior, and is equipped with chromoly front A-arms, adjustable rear trailing arms, double-adjustable Penske shocks, 993 Turbo brakes, a Tilton dual-plate clutch, an SPA Extreme fire system, a Motec dash with data logging, and much more as described below. This 914 race car is now offered with period magazine coverage, log books, spare parts, and a California bill of sale. Per the seller, the chromoly tubular chassis was designed by race engineer Brian Berthold and built by Bill Cartier. The carbon fiber body was designed and fabricated by the seller’s company, Sheridan Motorsports, and is finished in purple. Highlights include a carbon fiber and Kevlar honeycomb floor, one-piece front and rear sections, and a green rear wing. Black BBS wheels measuring 10″ across in front and 12″ across at the back are fitted with Hoosier slick tires. The braking system comprises a Tilton dual master cylinder and Porsche 993 Turbo calipers with 13″ rotors at the front. The suspension features custom chromoly A-arms and struts, as well as 4″ diameter by 1/8″ thick chromoly rear trailing arms with adjustable camber. Custom adjustable front and rear sway bars are fitted along with double-adjustable Penske shocks at each corner. The interior is fitted with a Sparco Evo racing seat, a Sparco steering wheel, and a Motec CDL3 instrument unit. A Tilton pedal cluster is also installed, along with an SPA Extreme fire suppression system. The air-cooled 3.8L flat-six was designed by Jerry Woods and built by Sheridan Motorsports as an RSR clone. The engine case and cylinder heads are from a Porsche 993 and the crank was sourced from a 964, while additional parts include Carrillo rods, a GT3 oil pump, Jerry Woods-designed Mahle pistons, GE100 camshafts, TWM throttle bodies, and a Motec M48 engine management system. Two 964 oil coolers are fitted up front. The seller states that the engine has about 10 hours of run time and was last serviced one month ago. Previous dyno sheets are provided in the gallery, and a run from April 2015 lists a maximum output of 382.6 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. The five-speed Type 915 manual transaxle has been modified with Wevo parts, including the shifter and tail shifting unit. A Tilton 7″ dual-plate clutch has also been fitted, along with a transmission pump with internal spray bars and an external cooler. Stainless steel exhaust headers were fabricated by Pete Weber of Quiet Horsepower, and Phase 9 mufflers were installed. The total weight of the car with fluids is said to be 1,860 pounds. Included in the sale are log books for PCA, POC, SCCA, and NASA, and an assortment of spare parts such as the molds for the body and ducting, a lower front nose section, two sets of wheels, 12 sets of springs, and more. Photos from the car’s previous races are provided in the gallery. Among other accomplishments, the seller notes achieving the Porsche Owners Club GT3 lap record at the old configuration of Willow Springs Raceway with a 1:24. A mounted copy of the September 2005 Excellence magazine in which the car was featured is shown above. The car was also featured in European Car magazine eight times, and participated in Rennsport Reunion IV in 2011. Copies of the magazines and Rennsport program can be viewed in the gallery. https://youtu.be/gKyPAnBQc0s A start-up video has been provided above, and a 16-minute driving video has been attached below.   Filed under: 914, 914/6
