$20,000
Make: Devin
Year: 1959

This 1959 Devin C was built by Devin Enterprises in El Monte, California and is reported to have been formerly owned by Bill Devin. The car underwent a refurbishment during prior ownership that included refinishing the exterior in red, reupholstering the black interior, and rebuilding the Chevrolet Corvair-sourced 2.7L flat-six. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transaxle, a limited-slip differential, a MOMO steering wheel, a Haltech fuel-injection system, a fuel cell, coilover rear suspension, Wilwood front calipers, and staggered-width SSR wheels. This first-year Devin C was acquired in February 2021 by the selling dealer and is now offered at no reserve in Canada on dealer consignment with service records, brand literature, and a transferable British Columbia registration describing the car as a 1959 Devin. The C model featured a Devin-designed ladder chassis and was available as a fully-assembled car. This example is said to have been delivered new in green, and the fiberglass body was repainted in the current red finish in March 2017 by Dave Bennett Restorations in Victoria, British Columbia. Features include a wraparound windshield, chrome roll hoop fitted behind the driver’s seat, and polished aluminum rear bumperettes. Staggered-width SSR SP1 wheels feature a gray center finish and are fitted with BFGoodrich g-Force Rival tires measuring 205/50 up front and 225/45 out back. Disc brakes are fitted at all four corners with Wilwood calipers and cross-drilled rotors up front, and the vehicle is also equipped with coilover rear suspension. The interior was updated by Dave Bennett Restorations at the time of the repaint, and features fixed-back bucket seats clad in black leather upholstery, with red piping with matching black upholstery on the door panels and dashboard top. Equipment includes an adjustable rear-view mirror and Wilwood pedals. Additional photos of the interior are included in the gallery below. The MOMO steering wheel frames Devin-branded instrumentation including a tachometer, a 200-mph speedometer, and readings for oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows approximately 390 miles, with total chassis mileage is unknown. The Chevrolet 2.7-liter flat-six was balanced and blueprinted in 2006 by Ray Sedman of American Pi in California and features a Haltech Sport 1000 fuel-injection system, individual TWM intake manifolds, and ITG foam filters as well as headers and a custom-fabricated exhaust sourced from Kenny Butcher. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential that was rebuilt by Tristram’s Garage in North Carolina and equipped with 3.27:1 gearing and four-spider upgrade. A replacement starter was fitted in 2021. Additional photos are provided in the gallery showing the underside, drivetrain, and exhaust components. Materials accompanying the sale include service records and a copy of the book Bill Devin- the Man and his Cars.
