1971 Datsun 240Z

This 1971 Datsun 240Z is a Canadian-market Series I example that was delivered new to Bellemare Et Morin Auto in Montreal, Quebec, and acquired by the current owner on BaT in September 2017. The car is finished in Monte Carlo Red over black upholstery and powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with hubcaps, front and rear spoilers, a wood shift knob, a power antenna, and an AM/FM radio. This 240Z is now offered on behalf of the current owner with partial service records, owner’s manuals, and an Alberta registration. Series I cars feature 240Z badging on the C-pillars, as well as horizontal vents in the rear hatch and a rear defroster with Series I-only vertical heating elements. This example is finished in Monte Carlo Red and some of the body panels are said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Equipment includes front and rear spoilers and a chrome side mirror, bumpers, and trim. Wear is noted on the door handles. Steel 14″ wheels feature Datsun hubcaps and wear Maxtrek tires. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Features include diamond-quilted transmission tunnel upholstery, a heater, a wood shift knob, patterned floor mats, rear cargo straps, and a push-button AM/FM radio. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges are housed above the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the current owner. The 2.4-liter L24 inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 151 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. The engine was reportedly overhauled in 2015.
