1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in 2011 and subsequently underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. The truck is finished in Rustic Green over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 350ci Chevrolet V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes a removable hardtop and a black soft top as well as 15″ Eagle Alloys wheels, Rancho suspension components, manually locking front hubs, a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Melling camshaft, a dual AGM battery system, a roll cage, power steering, heated front seats, and an Alpine head unit linked to aftermarket stereo components. This modified FJ40 is now offered in British Columbia with service records, spare parts, and British Columbia provincial registration in the seller’s name. The truck was factory-finished in Rustic Green (621) and was repainted during the refurbishment by 360 Fabrication of Abbotsford, British Columbia, following rust repairs and replacement of the windshield, windows, and weatherstripping. Bedliner material covers the fenders and running boards, and additional details include a removable hardtop with a white roof along with a replacement Bestop black soft top, a receiver hitch, rear ambulance-style doors, polished dual exhaust outlets, dual fuel tanks, and a stainless-steel front bumper with a Warn winch. A black bimini top, vinyl half-doors, and a diamond-plate panel that fits in place of the rear doors are included in the sale. Black-finished Eagle Alloy 15″ wheels wear red and blue pinstripes and 31×10.5″ Nexen Roadian MT tires. A 16″ spare wheel with a Land Rover Radial tire is affixed to the swing-away rear carrier. A Rancho steering stabilizer and shocks are installed along with polyurethane suspension bushings, and the truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and power steering. Braking is from front discs and rear drums. The interior features heated front bucket seats trimmed in black leather joined by gray door panel upholstery and wood trim accenting the dashboard. A replacement headliner and locking center console have been installed, and additional appointments include a heater, a CB radio, LED accent lighting, and an Alpine head unit linked to a Kenwood amplifier and subwoofer. The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames an 85-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. An Autogage tachometer sits atop the dashboard, and readouts for voltage and water temperature are mounted near the glove box. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 23k of which were added under current ownership. The cargo area features folding jump seats, a heater, and a rack and fire extinguisher mounted to the roll cage. The replacement 350ci Chevrolet V8 was rebuilt and installed by Bond Mechanical of Burnaby, British Columbia, in 2021 and features four-bolt main bearing caps as well as flat-top pistons, a Melling camshaft, a Holley 650-cfm carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and MSD ignition components. Remanufactured cylinder heads were installed and additional equipment includes a dual AGM battery system, a high-torque starter, and a finned Edelbrock air cleaner assembly and valve covers. Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A Trufit exhaust system was reportedly installed, and the seller states the fuel tank was cleaned and re-lined in 2020 and clutch components were replaced in 2021.
