This 1958 Porsche 356A coupe is said to have been purchased new in California by the current owner’s uncle, after which it was relocated to Hawaii prior to being acquired by the current owner in the early 2000s. The car was subsequently exported to Canada and underwent refurbishment work in the late 2000s that involved a repaint in Ivory along with a refresh of the interior in tan upholstery. Power is provided by a 1.6-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle, and additional equipment includes dual carburetors, chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels, a Nardi steering wheel, and a digital media receiver. This 356A is offered on dealer consignment in Canada with service records beginning in 2002, refurbishment photos, a driver’s manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and Ontario registration. The car left the factory in Ivory (5704) and was stripped to bare metal prior to being refinished in 2009. A number of trim pieces were either re-chromed or replaced, and further exterior details include include body-color bumpers with guards, a driver-side mirror, a single-grille decklid, Reutter badging, and dual exhaust tips exiting through the rear overriders. Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels are mounted with Firestone F-560 tires, and a full-size spare is stored in the front trunk compartment. Sachs shocks are fitted at the rear, and braking is handled by four-wheel hydraulic drums. The reupholstered cabin houses front bucket seats trimmed in tan leatherette and accompanied by a color-coordinated rear jump seat and door panels. The ceiling wears a perforated white headliner, while the squareweave carpets are covered with matching floor mats. A retro-style digital media receiver has been added. The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts green-letter VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. The 1.6-liter flat-four features dual downdraft carburetors with polished air cleaners and was factory rated at 60 horsepower when new. The seller notes seepage along the valve covers. The engine stamping is shown above, and a photo of the transaxle stamping 17983 is viewable in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists a delivery date of February 19, 1958, along with factory colors, options, and identification numbers. A driver’s manual and service records since 2002 are also included in the sale. Additional photos taken during the repaint process are provided in the gallery. The vehicle is being sold on its Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada. The sale does not include a title.
