1936 Dodge

This 1936 Dodge D2 business coupe is said to have been sold new in California and remained with the original owner’s family for over six decades. It was acquired by the seller out of Arizona in 2006 and subsequently refurbished. An AACA National First Prize was awarded in 2011. The car is finished in blue over tan cloth upholstery, and power comes from a 217ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include dual brake lights, body-color artillery-style wheels, a vented hood, driving lamps, a painted woodgrain steel dash panel, and a heater. This Dodge is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was reportedly repainted maroon under previous ownership, and the body and fenders are said to have been removed from the frame and soda-blasted before a repaint in Dodge Blue was performed during the refurbishment. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, dual brake lights, running boards, a driver-side mirror, dual windshield wipers, a vented hood, a ram hood ornament, body-color “Air-Styled” headlight buckets, and driving lamps. The body-color artillery-style wheels feature white pinstriping and Dodge-branded center caps, and they are mounted with 6.50-16 Goodyear bias-ply tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are mounted in the cabin behind the bench seat. The lever-type shock absorbers are said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment, and replacement four-wheel drum brakes were also fitted along with new lines. The cabin features a bench seat that was reupholstered in tan broadcloth during the refurbishment, at which time the headliner, door panels, and carpets were replaced. The steel dash panel and window frames were repainted in factory-style woodgrain, and the window regulators and pedal brackets were also rebuilt. Additional features include a heater, a wood Dodge Brothers shift knob, and lap belts. The three-spoke steering wheel features a stylized ram horn button and fronts a 100-mph speedometer flanked by oil pressure, fuel level, temperature, and amperage gauges. The fuel-level gauge does not work. The five-digit odometer is said to have been reset during the refurbishment and shows 6,800 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 217ci inline-six was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment and was factory rated at 87 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission that is also said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment. The car is titled using an Arizona assigned VIN.
