This 1934 Chris-Craft Model 57 is a wood-hulled 21′ triple-cockpit Runabout that is equipped with a replacement Mercury Marine 5.7L Competition Ski V8 which drives a three-bladed bronze propellor via a forward/reverse Velvet Drive transmission. The boat features tan vinyl upholstery, red bottom paint, a white boot stripe, and varnished topsides. The boat was refurbished by Jechort’s Wood Boat Works of Winneconne, Wisconsin, in a project culminating in 2002 that included building a 5200 bottom and installing the replacement engine. The boat was acquired in 2023 by the selling dealer, and work in preparation for sale included performing an oil change and replacing the battery in addition to greasing the hubs and replacing the tires on the dual-axle trailer. Hotsy Totsy and the accompanying Continental trailer are now offered by the selling dealer with a spare water pump, a boat cover, a Chris-Craft burgee, a 1934 build equipment record, manuals and warranty documents for the engine, a 2002 survey, fenders, a Wisconsin title for the boat, and a certificate of origin for the trailer. The hull and deck feature seam-and-batten wood construction, and polished brightwork includes the cutwater, rub rails, cleats, and flag holder. A 5200 bottom was installed during the refurbishment. Photos showing an area of cracks in the hull can be viewed up close in the gallery. The triple-cockpit layout features three seating areas with bench seats that are upholstered in tan vinyl. Features include a dual-pane windscreen, gunwale-mounted step pads, and storage cubbies. The starboard-side helm features a three-spoke steering wheel with a hub-mounted throttle lever along with a three-position floor shifter. Center-mounted instrumentation includes a tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The gauges were replaced as part of the refurbishment. No hour meter is present, therefore total operating hours are unknown. The boat has been equipped with a Mercury Marine 5.7L Competition Ski V8. The wiring was replaced and the electronic systems were converted to 12 volts during the refurbishment. The battery was replaced and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale. The engine turns a single three-blade bronze propeller through a forward-reverse Velvet Drive transmission. The double-axle Continental trailer features carpeted step plates and bunks, a manual winch, a rolling tongue jack, and street lighting. The tires were replaced and the wheel bearings were greased in preparation for the sale.
