This 1986 Volkswagen Caravelle Syncro is an extended-top Westfalia camper that was acquired by the seller in Poland 2016. Since then, the exterior has been refinished in gold, the interior has been reupholstered in plaid cloth, and the suspension, brakes, and engine accessories have been overhauled. Power comes from a 2.1-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and Syncro all-wheel drive. Equipment includes a drivetrain decoupling system, 15″ steel wheels, a rear-mounted spare, four-wheel disc brakes, a side awning, aftermarket bumpers, a roof rack, swiveling captain’s chairs, a Bluetooth stereo, a Westfalia kitchenette, and a rooftop camper. Work was completed by mid-2021, and in August 2021 the van was imported to the United States from Germany. This Vanagon Syncro is now offered with copies of importation documents and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. The van was refinished in gold in 2018, at which time the sheet-metal joints are said to have been resealed with an anti-rust coating. Custom stainless-steel bumpers have been fabricated, and other features include an extended sleeper rooftop with a roof rack, a rear-mounted spare, a side awning, and a front bull bar with LED lights. Black-finished 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 235/85 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 white-letter tires. The bus is equipped with power steering, and the seller states that the following work has been done to the chassis: 288mm front disc brakes installed Rear disc brakes replaced Brake lines and hoses replaced Springs replaced Monroe shocks installed Suspension components powdercoated orange A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a metric speedometer with an inset five-digit odometer that shows approximately 9,500 kilometers (~6k miles), which reflects the distance accumulated by the seller. True mileage is unknown. The swiveling front captain’s chairs have been reupholstered along with the rear bench seat in plaid cloth. The door locks are powered, and an alarm system has been added along with a Pioneer CD player with Bluetooth connectivity. The rear area features a Westfalia-branded kitchenette with a stove top, sink, faucet, and refrigerator. The rear area is also equipped with a flip-up table, storage space, audio speakers, 120-volt outlets, curtains, and a folding rear bench to provide additional sleeping space. The seller notes that only one of the stove burners is operational. The rooftop sleeping area has a window and is ventilated. The WBX DJ 2.1-liter flat-four features an orange intake manifold, and the starter has been rebuilt. Other work is said to have included replacement of the water pump, radiator, coolant hoses, alternator, ignition wires, fuel tank, exhaust, battery, and battery cables. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle with a replacement clutch and a rebuilt driveshaft. The seller states that the gearbox is complemented by a three-knob system with a decoupler, which allows the vehicle to  be operated in rear-wheel drive. The van is also equipped with locking front and rear differentials. Images showing the vehicle during and after its refurbishment are provided toward the end of the gallery below. A four-page Polish receipt from June 2021 is also viewable below and totals zł91,786 (~$24k USD). Filed under: caravelle, vanagon
