This 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 double-cab pickup was acquired by the seller in 2015 and subsequently underwent a multi-year mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. Work involved performing sheet metal repairs, repainting the body in blue, re-trimming the interior, overhauling the suspension and brake systems, and installing a replacement 2,275cc flat-four paired with a Freeway Flyer four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a split windshield, sliding front windows, fold-down bedsides, 15″ Fuchs-style wheels, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, KYB shocks, dual carburetors, an MST pulley system, and an electronic ignition system. This modified Type 2 double cab is now offered with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. The truck was repainted in blue during the refurbishment, at which time rust and sheet metal repairs were performed. A split windshield is accompanied by sliding front windows. Spray-on bedliner material has been applied to the floor of the bed, which features fold-down sides. Further exterior details include chrome-finished bumpers with guards as well as polished front and bodyside moldings. Polished 15″ Fuchs-style wheels feature body-color accents along with Porsche-crest center caps. Continental tires are mounted at all four corners with 155/60 ContiProContact units up front and 195/55 Extreme Performance rubber out back. The suspension and brake systems were overhauled during the refurbishment, and the truck features lowering springs and KYB shocks as well as Wilwood calipers over cross-drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. The cabin features low-back front bucket seats and a rear bench that have been reupholstered in blue vinyl with white cloth inserts along with color-coordinated door cards. Volkswagen-branded floor mats line the footwells while a fire extinguisher is mounted behind the driver’s seat. The dome light cover is missing. The two-spoke steering wheel is worn and frames an inoperative 90-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, and true mileage is unknown. The replacement air-cooled 2,275cc flat-four was installed under current ownership. The engine features an electronic ignition system, dual Weber 44mm carburetors, a remote-mounted oil cooler with an electric fan, and an MST harmonic balancer and alternator pulley. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Freeway Flyer four-speed manual transaxle. The rear gear reduction hubs have been removed. Corrosion and damage to the frame is shown up close in the gallery below. Decoding the M-plate reveals the following information: 2652 – Double-cabin pick-up, left-hand drive UY – Exported to Grand Rapids, Michigan 429 – North American export package 139 – Sealed beam headlamps, red tail light lenses 404083 – Dove Blue (L31) body, Mesh Grey (83) upholstery 7053707 – Sequential chassis number
