This 1950 International Harvester Metro step van is a running project that appeared in the television show Hello Tomorrow! in 2023 following the current owner’s acquisition in 2021. The body was repainted turquoise with white graphics under current ownership, and power is from a replacement inline-four diesel paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include a 102″ wheelbase, white bumpers, a split windshield, a sliding entry door, and a single driver’s seat. The van is said to have remained in storage since March 2022, and the seller states that it runs and drives, though its overall operating condition is unknown. This Metro Step Van project is offered at no reserve on behalf of the production company in Brooklyn, New York, with decorative wheel arch skirts, a faux antenna, and a clean California title, which will be processed through the selling dealer in Florida. The Raymond Loewy-designed Metro debuted in 1938, and the body of this example was refinished in turquoise with white Amazing Personal Products graphics under current ownership. Details include a right-side sliding entry door, white-finished bumpers, an aluminum grille, and a left-side fender vent. The rear panel doors have been replaced with upper and lower hinged panels. Holes are present around the wheel arches for use in securing the decorative skirts. Black-painted 16” steel wheels wear 6.5-16 Power King Super Highway II tires, and stopping power is from four-wheel drum brakes. The cab houses a pedestal-mounted driver’s seat upholstered in white vinyl along with gray-painted sheet metal and stamped floor panels. Features include fixed side windows, an overhead storage compartment, a floor shifter, a left-side handbrake, and a dome light. Handwritten instructional notes are affixed to the instrument panel and engine cover. The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, and a bank of aftermarket instruments is mounted above the engine cover. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, a handful of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement inline-four diesel sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the van will need to be inspected and serviced prior to use. Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery below. The truck is titled in California using VIN LM122225687, which incorporates the model and chassis serial number shown on the plate above. A set of four decorative wheel arch skirts is included in the sale along with a faux antenna.
