This 2008 Tesla Roadster was sold new in South Carolina and spent time in Virginia and California before it was recently acquired by the selling dealer out of Tennessee. The car is powered by a 3-phase, 4-pole electric induction motor mated to a BorgWarner single-speed transmission and shows 77k miles. The battery pack was refurbished earlier this year and is said to remain under warranty for an additional six months. This Roadster is offered with a matching carbon fiber hardtop, black soft top, two chargers and extra adaptors, a tool kit, factory manuals, a clean Carfax, and a clear Tennessee title. The Tesla Roadster was based on the Lotus Elise chassis and was the first mass-produced, highway-legal, all-electric vehicle to use lithium-ion battery cells. Approximately 2,450 examples were sold between 2008 and 2012. This example is finished in silver paint which is shown up close in the gallery below. Factory wheels measure 16” up front and 17” out back and wear a set of Yokohama Advan Neova tires. Finish flaws are said to include rock chips and a blemish on the front bumper. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage. Images of the matching carbon fiber hardtop and black soft top are provided in the gallery. The interior is trimmed in black leather with branded floor mats. A JVC head unit featuring Bluetooth has been installed. The tire pressure monitoring system has a fault according to the seller, and looseness and bolster wear are evident on the driver’s seat. Approximately 77k miles are shown on the odometer. The electric induction motor produced 248 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is drawn from a 53-kilowatt-hour battery pack which was refurbished six months ago and reportedly remains under warranty for further six months. A high-power connector and additional charger are included in the sale, as is a J1772 adapter for use at public charging stations. The Carfax report lists no accidents or other issues and shows history in South Carolina, Virginia, California, and Tennessee.
