1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT 105/115 Series Coupe

This 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT is a very early “stepnose” 105 series Bertone coupe with many unique early details intact. According to the Alfa Romeo Centro Storico chassis number AR601571 was manufactured in February 1964 and was originally delivered in Italy. The car was restored in 2005 while still in Italy and a number of photos from the restoration process can be viewed in the gallery below. This car comes from the collection of Bring a Trailer regular Alex V. in Athens, Greece and is being offered at no reserve. The car was originally Bluette with a blue interior and was changed to the current Alfa red with black interior during the 2005 restoration. The paint was recently polished and remains in excellent condition with only minor imperfections. The seller believes all body panels are original and the car has never been in an accident. The original one-piece bumpers were recently rechromed and all other exterior trim is in good condition. 15″ Alfaholics GTA replica wheels are currently installed, and the original 15″ steel wheels and hubcaps were recently refurbished and are included in the sale. Both sets of wheels have new tires installed. Period Carello fog lights have been mounted but are not currently connected. The interior shows very little wear since the restoration, and as many original details as possible have been preserved. A 1964 dated Nardi steering wheel with Alfa logo horn button is installed and is believed to have been fitted from new; the original Alfa wheel is included with the sale. Interior carpets, seat covers, and door cards were fully restored using correct parts sourced from Classic Alfa. The original headliner is still installed and is in very good condition with a nice aged patina. The original roof mounted grab handles with lights are in good condition, and the rear windows still have the correct early series latches. A period correct keyed aftermarket steering wheel lock is in place with the key included and is believed to have been on the car since new. All lights, gauges, and accessories work correctly, including the heater. The only flaws and incorrect details worth noting are a small chip on the upper side of the passenger’s side window, later series armrests installed on the front doors, and incorrect black vinyl trim on the upper part of the dashboard. A correct 1600CC engine number 00502.01742 is currently installed and is almost certainly original to the car, though Alfa didn’t maintain numbers matching records during this era. The engine was fully rebuilt during the 2005 restoration. It runs very well and all four cylinders measured approximately 170 psi in a recent compression test. The engine bay is very clean with many correct Sprint GT details intact, including correct Weber 40 DCOE 4 carburetors, over the engine air hose, air cleaner, and early style hood support. The transmission shifts well even when cold and the suspension and steering are in good condition. The car has been freshly serviced and is ready to drive. A new exhaust system is installed, and the undercarriage is in good condition. The center floor sections have been replaced but there is no evidence of any other prior accident or rust damage. The wheel wells were recently detailed. An owner’s handbook and service manual in Italian are included in the sale, along with the original tool kit, jack, steering wheel, wheels, and hubcaps.
