This 1924 Cadillac V-63 is a seven-passenger open tourer that spent time in Arizona before being imported in 1993 to the Netherlands, where it was purchased by its current owner in 2009. It subsequently received a repaint in dark blue with black fenders and is powered by a 314ci L-head V8 that features a cross-plane counterbalanced crankshaft and is mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Additional features include mechanically actuated four-wheel drum brakes, 23” wood-spoke artillery wheels with demountable rims, a dual-exit exhaust system, a tan convertible top, tan interior upholstery, and fold-out jump seats. This V-63 is now offered on dealer consignment in Naarden-Vesting, Netherlands, with Dutch registration. The V-63 was introduced in 1923 for the 1924 model year with power from a revised version of Cadillac’s V8 engine that made it the first production car to feature a cross-plane crankshaft. Much of the model line’s styling was carried over from the Type 61, but with a longer, taller hood line and redesigned headlights. Fourteen body styles were offered on the V-63’s standard 132” wheelbase, including both open and closed configurations with a variety of passenger capacities. This example was repainted in dark blue with black fenders in 2010, prior to which it was reportedly galvanized and powder-coated. Features include a nickel-plated radiator shell and headlight surrounds, adjustable upper and lower windshield sections, etched wind wings, cowl lights, dual exhaust outlets, a wicker umbrella holder, and a tan soft top that can be stowed under a matching boot. Wood-spoke artillery wheels feature dark blue-painted felloes and demountable rims wrapped in 33×5 Goodrich Silvertown wide-whitewall tires that are said to have been mounted in 2010. Two spare rims with older tires are secured to the rear of the car. Stopping is handled by mechanically actuated drum brakes at all four corners, a first for Cadillac in 1924. The cabin is trimmed in tan leather over the front and rear bench seats and door panels as well as over jump seats that fold out from the back of the front seat. Additional features include color-matched carpeting, door pockets with embossed crest outlines, a marbled shift knob, a cigar lighter, and a transmission-driven tire pump operated via a turnscrew in the front floorboard. The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color dash that hosts a drum-style speedometer, an eight-day clock, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles. True mileage is unknown. The 314ci L-head V8 features a 90° angle between cylinder banks, a counterbalanced crankshaft with throws at 90° intervals, three main bearings, a positive-pressure fuel system with a camshaft-driven pump, and a single downdraft carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. Suspension incorporates solid axles and semi-elliptical leaf springs at front and rear, while steering is via worm and sector. The car is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles, it is being sold on its registration. The car is being offered by the seller on behalf of a Netherlands-based dealer, who is offering the car on consignment.
