This Ford Model A is one of 2,229 two-door Deluxe Phaeton versions produced for the domestic market in 1931, and is finished in two-tone blue and black with a beige soft top over saddle vinyl upholstery. Power is from a 201ci L-head inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The car is said to have been refurbished under previous ownership circa 2002, and has traveled approximately 50 miles since being purchased by the seller 15 years ago. This Deluxe Phaeton is offered with a convertible top boot, dual spare wheels, and transferrable New York registration in the seller’s name. The Deluxe Phaeton was offered only for the 1930 and 1931 model years. This example is said to have been refinished in its current two-tone blue and black with ivory pinstripes approximately 18 years ago under previous ownership. Features include chrome headlamp and cowl light housings, a spotlight, a chrome quail radiator cap ornament, wind wings, an “ahooga” horn, and a folding luggage rack affixed to the rear end. The wood-framed convertible top extends the length of the passenger compartment and is pictured both raised and stowed beneath its matching tan canvas boot. Yellow wire wheels wear wide-whitewall tires, and two covered spares are mounted on the running boards. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench with armrests, all trimmed in saddle vinyl matching that used on the side panels. Tan square-weave carpets line the floors below. The four-spoke steering wheel features spark advance and hand throttle levers, and sits ahead of a body-colored steel dash. The central instrument panel houses an ammeter, a barrel speedometer, an ignition switch, and a five-digit odometer showing 345 miles, 50 of which have been driven by the seller in 15 years of ownership. Actual mileage is unknown. The 201ci L-head inline-four was rated at 40 horsepower when new, and drives the rear wheels through a three-speed sliding-gear manual transmission. A tune-up was performed in October 2020. Transverse leaf springs and lever-arm shocks locate solid front and rear axles. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
