This 1936 Ford Model 68 roadster was refurbished in the early 2010s before being acquired by the seller in 2017. Finished in maroon with a tan top over brown upholstery, the car is powered by a 221ci flathead V8 linked to a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a Stromberg carburetor, a rumble seat, wind wings, louvered hood panels, hubcaps, whitewall tires, and a rear-mounted covered spare tire. This ’36 Ford is now offered with refurbishment photos and a South Carolina title in the seller’s name. Ford manufactured 3,862 roadster examples of the Model 68 for 1936. This car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in maroon during the aforementioned refurbishment. The tan canvas soft top was replaced and has darker-colored accents and a glass rear window. Bright trim frames the windshield, and other features include red pinstriping, a greyhound hood ornament, louvered hood panels, a cowl vent, a single windshield wiper, wind wings, chrome bumpers, running boards, and dual taillights. Paint imperfections are noted on the rumble-seat door and adjacent paneling. Steel 16” wheels wear chrome trim rings and V8-branded “spider” covers and are mounted with Ford-branded 6.00-16 whitewall tires. A covered spare is affixed to the rear. The cabin houses a bench seat trimmed in brown upholstery, while the rumble seat wears a matching seat cover. Appointments include a woodgrain-style dashboard panel, a floor shifter, a rearview mirror, and an AM radio. A banjo-style steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The 221ci flathead V8 is equipped with a single Stromberg carburetor topped with an oil-bath air cleaner. The seller states that service performed in preparation for the sale involved recoring and painting the radiator, flushing the coolant, changing the oil, and replacing the engine mounts, fuel pump, water pump, and coolant hoses. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. Photos taken at various stages of the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery below.
