Make: Packard
Model: Packard Twelve
Year: 1936

This 1936 Packard Twelve is a Series 1408  seven-passenger sedan that was delivered new via Packard’s Detroit branch in October 1935. It was purchased by the late owner’s family in 1959 and moved to California the following year. The car changed hands to its late owner in 1977 and was then relocated to Colorado before later moving to Arizona. It is finished in burgundy over tan cloth upholstery, and power comes from a 473ci V12 paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include 17″ painted wire wheels, dual side-mount spare wheels, a Goddess of Speed hood ornament, turn signals, rear-hinged doors, a fold-down luggage rack and rear external trunk, an AM radio, a heater, lap belts, rear jump seats, and a rear robe cord. This Fourteenth Series Packard is now offered on dealer consignment with a 1960s newspaper clipping about the car, a history of the car written by the late owner, and a clean Arizona title. The body is said to have been repainted in its current burgundy in the 1960s and features chrome bumpers, turn signals, a Goddess of Speed hood ornament, running boards, rear-hinged doors, and a fold-down luggage rack and a Packard-branded external rear trunk. The painted wire wheels wear chrome Packard Twelve-branded hubcaps, and they are mounted with 7.50–17 Firestone bias-ply whitewall tires. Matching spare wheels are mounted in body-color cases in the fenders. The Series 1408 rode on a 144.5″ wheelbase and features semi-elliptical leaf springs at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic drum brakes. The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in tan cloth along with a matching headliner, rear jump seats, door panels, and carpets. Features include a painted woodgrain steel dash and window trim as well as dual gloveboxes, an AM radio, a heater, front lap belts, a rear fold-down armrest, and a rear robe cord. Wear on the carpets, door panels, and seats can be seen in the gallery. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 473ci V12 features a Stromberg carburetor and was factory rated at 175 horsepower. An oil change was reportedly last performed in 2020. The car is titled by its engine number, 904073. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. The chassis tag lists the vehicle number along with an October 28, 1935, delivery to Packard’s Detroit branch.
