This 1937 Hudson Terraplane is a 3/4-ton pickup that is said to have remained in single ownership from the 1960s until 2011, at which time it received a multi-year refurbishment by the previous owner. Acquired approximately four years ago by the seller, the truck is finished in blue with black fenders over a brown vinyl interior and powered by a 212ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a side-mounted spare wheel, dual storage compartments in the bed, whitewall tires, and a chrome front bumper and trim. This Terraplane pickup was awarded the AACA First Junior and First Senior awards in 2018 and 2019 respectively, was featured in 2020 issues of Hemmings Classic Car and Old Cars Weekly, and is being offered with copies of the magazines, a service manual, parts manuals, factory literature, receipts from the refurbishment, and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name. The exterior was repainted in Ford Regatta Blue with black fenders following body work and rust repair by the previous owner. The bed is said to be a custom-made reproduction that features twin storage compartments on either side, and additional features include a fender-mounted spare, a driver’s side-view mirror, and a chrome front bumper and trim. Paint chips are pointed out in the gallery below. The 16” red-painted steel wheels feature chrome Hudson Terraplane-branded hubcaps and are wrapped in Firestone whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic drum brakes at all four corners. The cabin features a single bench seat trimmed in brown vinyl with matching door panels and black rubber-lined floors. Amenities include a glovebox, an ashtray, and chrome accents. A black three-spoke steering wheel fronts a brown-painted metal dashboard that houses instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature, and warning lights for the generator and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows just under 13k miles, around 100 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 212ci inline-six was factory-rated at 96 horsepower at 3,900-rpm and was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment. The starter, generator, and distributor are also said to have been rebuilt, and the seller reports that an oil change was performed in the fall of 2020. The frame features factory boxed rails along with a central X-member, and was reportedly sandblasted and powder coated black during the refurbishment. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below, along with copies of articles in which the truck was featured. A cold start video is presented below.
