1938 LaSalle Series 50

This 1938 LaSalle Series 50 Convertible is powered by a 322ci flathead V8 paired with a 3-speed manual gearbox and came equipped from the factory with independent front suspension and hydraulic drum brakes. It also features fender-mounted enclosed spare tires, running boards, and a rumble seat. The seller’s grandfather purchased the car in 1966 and refurbished it over the course of many years, completing the work in 1998. It went on to participate at a few local car shows, and the seller has added approximately 100 miles since acquiring the car four years ago. This LaSalle is now being offered with spares, a set of factory workshop manuals, and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name. Production numbers show that only 819 Series 50 2-door convertibles were produced for the 1938 model year. Utilizing a 124″ wheelbase and a body by Fisher, the Series 50 features a louvered hood and fender-mounted pod headlights. The 2-door convertible came standard with a rumble seat, as well as a rear storage compartment. The body was stripped and repainted during the older refurbishment, though much of the trim and brightwork remains unrestored. The canvas top was also recovered during the refurbishment, and a set of whitewalls come fitted on the color-matched wheels. The seats and interior panels have been recovered in dark blue vinyl upholstery, and an older light brown finish is visible on the dash and window surrounds. 48k miles are shown on the odometer. The 322ci flathead V8 was rated for 125 hp and comes paired with a synchronized 3-speed manual gearbox. An oil change was performed in August 2018.
