This 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Woodie Station Wagon has been with the same family since 1978 and is said to feature its original wood, sheet metal, paint, and interior. The car is powered by a flathead V8 paired to a three-on-the-tree and a Columbia 2-speed rear axle. The seller inherited the car from her father in 2009, and fondly recalls a long family road trip and many car show picnics staged from the back of this station wagon. About four years ago, it received new brakes, battery, tires, repainted wheels, and a general tune-up. The car is said to run and drive well, and is sold with a selection of spare parts including a full set of replacement doors, several handles, headlights, and dash pieces. This Woodie is offered with receipts from the recent work and a clean Illinois title. The body and paint are original, and look to be in solid, well-preserved condition. The wood around the rear passenger-side fender needs replacing as detailed in the photo gallery below. The seller notes that the rest of the original wood is in good condition, but would benefit from varnishing. The roof is also believed original and is said to show no tears or leaks. The seller reports no noticeable rust issues on the metal floors or body panels, though some window rubber and one of the door leather hinges needs replacing. The interior is mostly original with front and rear bench seats, wood door panels, and rubber floor mats. Note the period faux wood finish on the dash and windshield trim. The electrical system was converted to 12 volt at some point, but the dash components were wired up leaving the gauges non-functional at this time. The headliner is pictured above and consists of wood ribs and slats with canvas above. The upholstery on the removable benches has held up well for its age, though some split seams are visible and piping is frayed on the front of the lower cushion of the middle bench. Instead of converting all the gauges to 12 volt, an aftermarket cluster was installed under the dash that monitors amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature. The seller notes that her father moved the heater and installed a newer style radio in its place. This Super Deluxe Woodie is powered by a 221ci flathead V8 that is said to be original and was rated at 90 horsepower when new. It sends power through a three-on-the-tree to a Columbia 2-speed rear axle. The transmission and clutch are reported to be in good order and perform well. The seller believes the drivetrain has never been out and has no knowledge of any major work ever being done to engine, transmission, or rear end during her father’s ownership. In 2012, new hoses, filters, and a new battery were added, and a general tune up was performed. The engine is said to start easily and run well with no smoke. The steel wheels were sandblasted and repainted in 2013 to match the body color. They look nice with original Ford center hubcaps surrounded by polished trim rings and grey hand-painted triple pin stripes. The underbody and frame are said to be straight without any significant rust issues. The car tracks straight and received new brakes and a fresh set of white wall tires in 2013. The 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Woodie Wagon is a driving survivor that would make a great weekend cruiser or local show car. An owner’s manual, parts catalog, and shop manual are included in the sale.
