This 1941 Packard One-Twenty is a convertible coupe from the final year of the model’s production and was acquired by the seller in 2014. Finished in maroon with a tan soft top over a red leather interior, the car is powered by a 282ci L-head straight-eight paired with a three-speed Unimesh manual transmission. Work during the seller’s ownership has included overhauling the brake system and installing new chrome-spoke wheels, new tires, and a new battery. This nineteenth-series One-Twenty is now offered with manuals, spare parts and accessories, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name. The two-door convertible was one of eight body styles offered in the final year of production for the One-Twenty model line, which featured a 127” wheelbase with an X-member frame. This example is finished in maroon, and a new tan soft top was installed prior to the seller’s acquisition. The top has reportedly been kept raised during the seller’s ownership. Exterior features include an optional cormorant hood ornament, running boards, fog lights, and grille and trunk guards. A spare taillight lens is included in the sale. New 15” chrome-spoke wire wheels with branded hubcaps were sourced from Coker Tire and installed three years ago, with new Coker wide-whitewall tires mounted at that time. The One-Twenty model featured Packard’s Safe-T-fleX suspension all around, with unequal-length control arms, coil springs, torque arms, shock absorbers, and a roll-control bar up front. Out back, leaf springs are combined with hydraulic shock absorbers and a lateral stabilizer bar with a fifth shock absorber. The cabin is trimmed in red leather over bench seats front and rear, with matching door panels and color-keyed carpeting. A tan three-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring sits ahead of a horizontal-sweep 110-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 600 of which have been added by the seller. Featured accessories include a cigarette lighter, a flashlight holder, and sideview mirrors. The 282ci inline-eight features an L-head configuration with angle-set valves and Thermo-Strut aluminum pistons, producing 120 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Unimesh three-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on the highest two gears. An oil change and other fluid services were completed by the seller one year ago. The brake system was refreshed during the seller’s ownership with a new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, and new shoes, and a new Optima battery has also been installed. The patent plate indicates that this car was sold new in March 1941 at Dietrich Motors in Baltimore, Maryland.
