This 1950 Allard K1/2 was ordered in November 1949 by Uruguayan dealer Emalas & Cia. to whom it was delivered on February 9, 1950, with K2-type coil-spring front suspension and K1 bodywork. Chassis 841 was repainted in its current shade of red in the 1990s before being purchased by its current owner in Norway 20 years ago. Power is provided by a 221ci Ford/Mercury flathead V8 that breathes through a single downdraft carburetor and is mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Additional features include hydraulic drum brakes, independent front suspension, body-color 16” wheels, and black leather upholstery. This K1/2 is now offered on dealer consignment in Oslo, Norway, with Norwegian registration. The K1 was introduced in 1946 as the sportiest of three touring models offered by Allard at the time and featured a stamped-steel, channel-section chassis with a 106″ wheelbase. Those underpinnings were carried over from the K1 to its successor, the K2, which arrived in 1950 with front coil springs in lieu of the K1’s leaf spring arrangement. While the K2 also brought revised styling, this example is said to have been delivered with K1-style bodywork. Originally finished in gray, the aluminum and steel bodywork was repainted in its current shade of red in the 1990s. Features include a T-shaped waterfall grille, the absence of bumpers, louvers on each side of the engine compartment, a fold-down windshield, trafficators, rear fender guards, and a body-color spare-wheel cover recessed into the rear bodywork. Various imperfections in the finish can be seen in the photo gallery below. Body-color 16” steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are wrapped in 6.00/6.40-16 Puma tires. Stopping is handled by hydraulic drums at each corner, and the wheel cylinders are said to have been replaced in April 2024. The cockpit is configured in left-hand drive and was re-trimmed in black leather in lieu of its original gray trim under previous ownership. Additional features include black carpeting, a central shifter with exposed linkage, door pockets, and a passenger-side grab handle. The banjo-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a polished dash housing Cooper-Stewart instrumentation including a 160-km/h speedometer and a 5k-rpm tachometer flanked by a clock and gauges monitoring fuel level, amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 69k kilometers (~43k miles), approximately 7,500 of which have been added under current ownership. The 221ci Ford/Mercury flathead V8 features 21-bolt cylinder heads, a single downdraft carburetor, and a front-mounted distributor. Service in 2022 included fluid changes and the replacement of the spark plugs. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission, a torque tube, and a solid rear axle that features a transverse leaf spring, angled radius rods, and lever-arm shock absorbers. Independent front suspension incorporates a Bellamy split axle, coil springs, and telescopic shock absorbers. The car’s build sheet lists the original colors, left-hand-drive configuration, and delivery to Uruguay, while the car’s entry in Allard factory records noting the K2 coil-spring suspension can be viewed in the gallery below. Also shown is an entry for chassis number 774, which was also delivered to Uruguay with coil springs. The vehicle is being sold on its Norwegian registration. The sale does not include a title, as the vehicle is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. The car is located in Norway and is offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a California-based retail dealer, who states that they will assist the buyer in obtaining EU registration or a California title.
