1267 Williams Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93301
$19,000
Make: Buick
Model: Buick Super
Year: 1951

This 1951 Buick Super Estate is one of 2,212 Ionia-bodied Estate Wagons produced for the model year, and the car was refurbished more than 10 years ago and was acquired by the current owner in January 2023. Finished in metallic blue with wood side-window framing and tailgate over blue and white vinyl upholstery, the vehicle is powered by a 263ci inline-eight paired with a Dynaflow automatic transmission. Features include a 12-volt electrical system, chrome fender Ventiports, a roof rack, wire wheels, and whitewall tires. This Buick Model 59 woodie wagon is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Washington title in the owner’s name. Delivered from the factory in Sharon Green (08), the steel body panels and roof were repainted in their current shade of blue under previous ownership. The wood framing around the side glass and the split wood tailgate were also redone. Features include a side-hinged hood that opens from either side of the car, three chrome Ventiports per fender, chrome side trim, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, Buick Eight and Dynaflow badging, reverse lights, and a turned-down chrome exhaust tip. Blemishes are noted on the hood, and the tailgate wood is cracked near the driver-side lower hinge. Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels are mounted with 235/75 Coker whitewall tires. A spare is stored under the cargo-area floor. Braking is provided by drums at each corner. The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in blue and white vinyl and accompanied by color-coordinated door panels. Additional appointments include a dash-mounted clock, black carpeting, a white headliner, and a silver-colored steel dashboard with a black upper portion. The Buick Selectronic AM radio and the heater are inoperable. The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 110-mph speedometer flanked by two combination gauges. An aftermarket temperature gauge is positioned beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The 263ci Fireball straight-eight produced a factory-rated 120 horsepower and was rebuilt during the refurbishment. The car has been converted to a 12-volt electrical system, which accommodates a starter, an alternator, and the battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Dynaflow automatic transmission. The car’s trim tag notes an Ionia Body built by the Ionia Manufacturing Company. The tag decodes as follows: 1951 Mod. 59 – 1951 Buick Super Estate Wagon Body No. 796 – Ionia, Michigan, assembly plant; body number Trim No. 86 – Green Cordaveen upholstery Paint No. 08 – Sharon Green monotone exterior
