1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 Roadster

This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was initially delivered to A. Brüggemann & Company of Düsseldorf, Germany, and imported to Canada under previous ownership. A subsequent refurbishment in the mid-1990s involved repainting the body, re-trimming the interior, and rebuilding the 2.7-liter inline-four, and the car was converted to a 12-volt electrical system and a four-speed manual with overdrive was installed. The car is also equipped with a black soft top, Lucas driving lights, a louvered hood, silver-finished 15″ wire wheels, twin SU carburetors, an electric fuel pump, a Falcon stainless-steel exhaust system, and a heater. The car was acquired by the seller approximately 17 years ago, and work performed since 2022 included changing the engine oil as well as the transmission and differential fluids. This BN1 roadster is now offered in Canada with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and British Columbia registration document in the seller’s name. The car left the factory finished in Old English White, and the seller states that the body was sandblasted and repainted yellow in 1995 following corrosion repair. Exterior features include a black soft top, a louvered hood, Lucas driving lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Side curtains and a storage bag will accompany the car. Noted flaws are shown in the gallery and consist of dents and dings throughout the body, paint runs on the right-front fender, and corrosion bubbles on the right door. The seller notes that the collector car plates are not included in the sale. Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by chrome knock-offs and wear Semperit Hi-Life M401 tires. The car is equipped with independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes that are said to have been bled three years ago. The seller states that the interior was re-trimmed in 1995 with work involving covering the seats in black leather, finishing the door panels in black, and replacing the carpets. Equipment includes a heater, a dash-mounted mirror, a driver’s side mounted mirror, and lap belts. The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 2.7-liter inline-four is equipped with twin SU carburetors and is said to have been overhauled under previous ownership. The seller states that the coolant was flushed three years ago, and an oil change was last performed in the fall of 2022. An electric fuel pump and switchable auxiliary cooling fan have been installed, and there is a battery cutoff switch in the trunk. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an overdrive-equipped four-speed manual transmission. The car is also equipped with a Falcon stainless-steel exhaust system, and the seller notes a rattle emanating from the muffler. The transmission and differential fluids were changed in the fall of 2022. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as initial delivery to Düsseldorf, Germany. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a province that does not issue titles. It is being sold on its British Columbia registration.
