1955 Bentley S-Type

This 1955 Bentley S1 is a left-hand-drive saloon that is finished in two-tone gold and brown over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors, 15″ wheels, driving lights, chrome bumpers and trim, rear picnic trays, wood trim, and a push-button radio. The car was imported to Canada after being owned in the US and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2018, and it is said to have undergone an exterior and interior refurbishment under previous ownership. This S1 saloon is now offered in Canada with a 2020 service record and Ontario registration. The car was repainted under prior ownership in its current shades of brown and gold. Exterior details include driving lights, a left-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Steel 15″ wheels wear body color-accented covers and Cooper Lifeliner Touring whitewall tires. A spare is stored in a compartment below the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The front wheel cylinders were rebuilt in June 2020. The cabin features two rows of bench seating upholstered in tan leather along with color-coordinated door panels and wood trim. Features include quarter vent windows, a column-mounted shifter, a rear center armrest, and a push-button radio. Spots of mold are present on the rear picnic trays. A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 110-mph Smiths speedometer, an analog clock, and supplementary gauges that display oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 79k miles, of which approximately 800 were added by the selling dealer. The 4.9-liter inline-six features an F-head configuration and dual SU carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a General Motors-sourced Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
