This 1955 Chevrolet Corvette is the 671st of 700 examples produced for the model year. It is refinished in red over white and is powered by a 265ci V8 paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Features include 15” red-finished steel wheels with faux knock-off spinners as well as a white soft top, a curved windshield, wire mesh headlight guards, an AM radio, a heater, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. The seller purchased the car in 1998, and the seats were replaced in 2017. This C1 Corvette is now offered with Corvette literature, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and New York registration. The car was stripped and then refinished in red in 1989. Features include a white convertible top, a curved windshield, wire mesh headlight guards, a chrome grille, a driver-side rearview mirror, and directional signals as well as Chevrolet fender badging, a three-piece rear bumper, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. Close-up photos of the exterior are shown in the gallery below. Red-finished 15” steel wheels feature polished covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with Coker Classic tires measuring 205/75. The C1 was equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension, front and rear hydraulic shocks, and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The white-trimmed bucket seats are faired into the rear bodywork and were replaced in 2017. They are complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Interior appointments include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, an AM radio, an analog clock, a heater, courtesy lights, a floor-mounted shifter, and polished door sills. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 140-mph speedometer. A central 6k-rpm tachometer is flanked by gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement 265ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and features a Rochester four-barrel carburetor. The engine stamp pad was stamped with the car’s serial number. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Service records, spare and removed parts, vehicle literature, and memorabilia are included in the sale. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration. Filed under: c1
