This 1957 Porsche 356A cabriolet is a Reutter-built example that was produced on June 19, 1957, and initially delivered to Hillsborough, California. The car would remain under single-family ownership for more than five decades, and a stalled refurbishment that began in 1989 was eventually completed in 2008. The car was previously sold on BaT in September 2020 and was acquired by the seller later that year. Subsequent work involved overhauling the 1.6-liter flat-four, refurbishing the steering wheel, and replacing the black top boot. The car is finished in white over red leather and equipped with a black soft top, 15″ ventilated steel wheels, and a Blaupunkt radio. This 356A cabriolet is now offered with a copy of the Kardex, service records, and a Texas title. The car was delivered from the factory in Graphite Metallic and was refinished in its current shade of white under prior ownership in 1989. A black soft top is fitted, and a replacement black top boot was installed in 2021. The car has a single-grille engine lid, mesh headlight guards, and body-color bumpers with chrome overriders. Areas of rust in the battery box and on the passenger side of the car are noted. Ventilated 15″ steel wheels wear replacement chrome hubcaps and are mounted with Michelin tires. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner. The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in red leather that extends to the door panels and is complemented by a black leather dashpad. Interior appointments include a Blaupunkt radio, replacement speakers, passenger-side grab handle, lap belts, and a body-color painted dashboard. Vent valve The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and was refurbished in June 2021 by Koch’s in Acton, California. VDO instrumentation includes a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four, which the seller notes was overhauled under current ownership. Fresh air and heat vent valve covers were also fitted. The engine case stamping is shown above, and the sequence 65937 matches what is shown on the Kardex. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The copy of the Kardex lists factory colors as well as production numbers and shows initial delivery to Hillsborough, California via Mahag in Munich. The current Texas title carries a “VIN Certification Waived” notation.
