This 1959 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato was converted into a race car in the 1980s and has been in storage with the seller for nearly a decade. The car had previously been with the seller’s father since 2008, and it has not been driven for at least 11 years. According to the included logbooks, it was campaigned in events around Northern California at tracks such as Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, and Sonoma from the 1980s until the early 2000s. Power is from a rear-mounted inline-four engine equipped with an Astech cylinder head, though the car has not been started since 2010 and the 4-speed gearbox is believed to have an issue. This “double bubble” Fiat Abarth is now offered at no reserve in Texas with the logbooks and a spares package. Streamlined Zagato bodywork is finished in a custom paint scheme and shows cracks and chips in areas. The front fenders and fender wells have been modified to accept larger tires, and the side windows, turn indicators, bumpers, and wipers have been removed. Gold-painted alloy wheels are wrapped in a set of old Avon racing slicks. The suspension has been reworked and now utilizes coilovers at each corner. A fuel cell resides in the front compartment as pictured in the gallery. The stripped cabin is equipped with a weld-in roll cage and a single fixed-back seat for the driver. AutoMeter gauges reside in the dash along with a row of toggle switches. The seller believes that the engine has been increased in displacement. An Astech aluminum cylinder head, matching intake, and a single sidedraft Weber carburetor are fitted. The car last ran in 2010, at which point there was an issue with the clutch or gearbox that prevented it from being driven. Logbooks from the 1980s accompany the sale. The car also carries an Ohio title issued to a previous owner in 1966, before it was converted for track use. Additional photos of spares package can be seen in the gallery. It includes a second Astech head and intake manifold, as well a number of clutch and flywheel assemblies, extra blocks, a gearbox, and more.
