1962 Ford Thunderbird (1961-1963)

This 1962 Ford Thunderbird is one of a claimed nine convertibles made for the model year with the M-code 390ci V8 equipped with three two-barrel carburetors. It was originally ordered through Nerney Motors in Attleboro, Massachusetts in Rangoon Red with power windows, a push-button radio, whitewall tires, windshield washers, an outside mirror, and fender shields. The car has been restored, and it was the recipient of an AACA Grand National Award winner and a Thunderbird Club of America Senior Judging Certification. The current owner acquired the car in 2007, and it has been stored since. This M-code Thunderbird is now offered on dealer consignment with a build sheet, the owner’s manual, and a Pennsylvania title. The car left the factory finished in Rangoon Red with windshield washers, an outside mirror, and fender shields. The white soft top stores under the red-painted hard tonneau when retracted. The listing photos were taken in 2023. Winner’s medallions from AACA events are affixed to the grille. The 14″ chrome-finished wire wheels wear spinner-style caps and are mounted with Coker Classic tires. The car came equipped from the factory with power steering, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted drum brakes at each corner. The manually adjustable front seats and a rear bench are trimmed in red upholstery, and stainless-steel trim accents the console, instrument panel, door panels, and rear quarter trim panels. Amenities include power windows, an AM radio, a MagicAire heater/defroster, and a center console. The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a swing-away column and frames a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a single combination gauge for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just over 23,500 miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. The 390ci V8 is fitted with a trio of two-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 340 horsepower. The oil was changed in May 2024. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. The framed information board contains a window sticker, a production breakdown, and images of awards won. The title carries a Not Actual Mileage odometer status and an Antique brand.
