This 1962 Lotus Super Seven is a left-hand-drive Series 2 example that was delivered new to London, England, and imported to the US under previous ownership. It is finished in exposed aluminum with red fenders over red upholstery and powered by a 1,500cc Ford inline-four equipped with dual Weber 45mm DCOE carburetors paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes an alloy nose cone, 13″ wheels, dual adjustable windscreens, a roll bar, Koni coilovers, upgraded brake calipers and rotors, a Burns exhaust system, Simpson four-point harnesses, and a wooden shift knob. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2018, and work carried out in August 2022 consisted of removing the engine and gearbox to replace the seals, clutch, gasket, distributor, speedometer cable, shift lever, and fluids. This Super Seven is now offered on dealer consignment in Oregon with partial service records, Historic Lotus Register paperwork, spare parts, an owner’s manual, and a clean Texas title. The Super Seven features aluminum bodywork over a tubular frame, and this example is equipped with a custom alloy nose cone along with red fenders and an unpainted aluminum hood and side panels. Additional equipment includes dual adjustable windshields, a red vinyl rear tonneau cover, an exterior-mounted battery cutoff switch, as well as headlights, taillights, and indicators. The body panels are said to have been refinished in 2020. A single windshield is included in the sale, along with a set of headlights with red-finished buckets. The 13″ Minilite-style wheels are mounted with Toyo Proxes R888R tires sized 185/60. The chassis was strengthened at the transmission mount, and upgraded rear lower control arms have been added along with custom-valved Koni 8211 coilovers. Braking is handled by upgraded calipers and rotors up front and drums out back. The cabin was reportedly converted to left-hand drive under previous ownership and features fixed-back seats that were reupholstered in red vinyl in 2022. Additional equipment includes an exposed aluminum center tunnel and footwells, a rear-mounted roll bar, a rearview mirror, a wooden shift knob, and Simpson four-point harnesses. A red leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel is mounted ahead of an 8k-rpm tachometer flanked by oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature gauges. A Smiths 190-km/h speedometer and gauges for fuel level and voltage are mounted on the right. Just under 1,700 kilometers (~1,100 miles), approximately 500 of which were added by the current owner. The speedometer cable was replaced in August 2022, and the true mileage is unknown. The 116E 1.5-liter Ford Cosworth engine was rebuilt by Marcovicci Wenz Engineering in 2013. Equipment includes dual Weber 45mm DCOE carburetors, an ARE DrySump oil sump with pre-heater, a Moon coolant recovery tank, a Fuel Safe fuel cell, an electric cooling fan, and a Burns stainless-steel exhaust system and intake. In August 2022, Chip Starr of Racecar Resurrections removed the engine and transmission to replace the seals, clutch, gaskets, distributor, speedometer cable, shift lever, and fluids. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford Cortina-sourced four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 2021 with new synchros. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery. Photos taken during various stages of the recent refurbishment can be viewed in the gallery. Records from the Historic Lotus Register are also provided that lists history, chassis and engine numbers, and a delivery date of January 25, 1963.
