This 1963 Lancia Flaminia Sport 3C Zagato was ordered new from US Lancia importer Max Hoffman by the current owner, Anatoly Arutunoff. It was campaigned in period by Arutunoff in the 1963 Targa Florio, 1963 500 km at Spa, 1963 1000 km of the Nürburgring, and many other events as detailed below. The replacement 2.5-liter V6 is paired with a rear-mounted 4-speed manual transaxle, and the aluminum Zagato body is finished in light blue over a red and black interior. The car has more recently participated in historic rallies and garnered awards at the 2007 Amelia Island Concours. It was also featured on BaT earlier this year, and spares include two engine blocks, four heads, a transaxle, and more. This one-owner Flaminia Sport Zagato is now being offered behalf of Mr. Arutunoff in California with an FIA historic vehicle identity form, original FIA homologation papers, a FIVA identity card, factory literature, and a clean Oklahoma title. Introduced at the 1956 Turin Motor Show, the Lancia Flaminia began production in 1957. This 2-seat Sport model is built on a short-wheelbase chassis and wears an aluminum body by Zagato with a double-bubble roof. Finished in light blue, the car has received touch-up paint as needed over the years and shows some rust on the rocker panels. The suspension utilizes double wishbones up front with a De Dion-type rear axle. Stopping is from 4-wheel disc brakes, with the rears located inboard. Body-colored steel wheels wear polished Lancia hubcaps and 165R400 Michelin tires. The cabin is trimmed in red vinyl with matching door panels, contrasting black carpets, and a black upper dashboard area. Participation stickers from various historic events adorn the glass and are shown in detail in the gallery below. Other interior equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel and body-colored dashboard housing Jaeger instrumentation. The 5-digit odometer shows 78k miles. The replacement 2.5-liter V6 is equipped with three Weber 35 DCNL carburetors and a wet-sump lubrication system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted 4-speed manual transaxle. A major service will be required before the next event, and the seller reports that this car is one of 174 examples of the Flaminia Sport 3C equipped with the 2.5-liter engine. The De Dion-type rear axle, rear transaxle, and inboard disc brakes are pictured above. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below. Two spare alloy engine blocks with liners are included in the sale, along with two cast alloy oil pans, four cylinder heads, a transaxle, rear window glass, a distributor, drive unit, and more. The FIVA identity card shown above is included with the sale, as is an FIA historic vehicle identity form, original FIA homologation papers, a Sports Car Club of America grille badge, an award from the 2007 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, an original parts catalogue, an original owner’s manual, and the 1963 ADAC 1000 km of the Nürburgring entrant’s and driver’s armbands. The photo above shows the car in competition at the Nürburgring in 1963, and the seller notes that the car should be eligible for many historic 1950s and 1960s automotive events.
