This 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi was completed in January 1963 and delivered new to its first owner in Milan, Italy, the following month. Chassis 2564 was later imported to the US, where it was purchased in 1975 by a Texas owner who kept it in storage in a non-running state for over 40 years before it was sold to its current owner in 2017 and returned to Europe. Finished in dark blue, the car is equipped with a fuel-injected 3,485cc DOHC inline-six and a ZF five-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, Borrani disc wheels, independent front suspension, red leather interior upholstery, and power windows. This Tipo 101 is now offered as a non-running project by the seller on behalf of its owner in Roeselare, Belgium, with copies of its factory documentation, Maserati Classiche certificates, and its Belgian vignette 705. The 3500 GT model was first introduced in 1957 and was followed by a revised, fuel-injected GTi variant that was unveiled at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show. The GTi coupe retained its predecessor’s Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera coachwork but integrated styling updates including a slimmer chrome grille surround, rectangular front indicators, front and rear quarter windows, and taillight assemblies with three separate lenses. This example wears an older repaint in dark blue that exhibits cracking and flaking, revealing areas of the factory shade of Azzurro Reale Metallizzato. Features include oval front side markers, a hood scoop, fender vents with bright grilles, a lockable fuel filler cap, and dual exhaust outlets. Silver-painted Borrani disc wheels with alloy rims are wrapped in 165R16 Pirelli Cinturato tires, while three of the wheels wear bright hubcaps. The 3500 GT and GTi models were equipped with servo-assisted disc brakes all around. The cabin is trimmed in red leather over 2+2 seating, and areas of cracking and wear are exhibited on the seating surfaces. Additional features include color-keyed carpeting, a passenger-side headrest, a lockable glovebox, a Jaeger clock, and a radio blanking plate. The three-spoke steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation including a 250-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring amperage, coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 49k kilometers (~30k miles), and true mileage is unknown. The 3,485cc DOHC Tipo 101 inline-six features an aluminum block and cylinder head and is equipped with Lucas mechanical fuel injection. A compression test can be viewed in the video gallery below. Internal engine number 1567 is shown stamped on the engine block, matching the number listed on the factory build sheet. Shifting is through a ZF five-speed manual transmission, and the car is equipped with a limited-slip differential. Suspension incorporates double wishbones and coil springs up front and a leaf-sprung solid axle at the rear, with tubular shock absorbers and anti-roll bars at both ends. Corrosion is present on the underside panels and various components. The build sheet lists the original colors, specifications, and equipment numbers. The car’s factory order sheet and shipping notice can be viewed in the gallery below, as can Maserati Classiche documents including a Certificate of Origin, a Technical and Aesthetic Characteristics sheet, and a Historical information sheet. The vehicle is being sold with its Belgian vignette 705. The sale does not include a title, as the vehicle is located in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. The car was previously titled in the state of Texas as a 1962 model.
