This 1964 Pontiac LeMans convertible was delivered new to Bill Barry Pontiac of Santa Ana, California, and was acquired out of San Diego by its current owner during the late 1990s. A subsequent three-year refurbishment in the style of a GTO was completed in 2009 and included the installation of a 389ci V8 with Tri-Power induction as well as a repaint in Saddle Bronze over a reupholstered Saddle vinyl interior. Equipment includes a black power-operated convertible top, a dual-scoop hood, a three-speed automatic transmission, a limited-slip differential, power steering, front disc brakes, 15″ Rally wheels, front bucket seats, a center console, a Rally clock, a power antenna, and a push-button AM radio. This LeMans convertible is now offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment records, owner’s manuals, manufacturer’s literature, sales and marketing materials, Pontiac Historical Society documentation, a reproduction window sticker, yellow-on-black California license plates, reproduction dealer license plate frames, and a clean California title in the owner’s name. The car left the factory finished in Saddle Bronze and was repainted during the refurbishment. Exterior features include a power-operated black convertible top with a zip-down plastic rear window and a black vinyl boot as well as GTO badging, dual hood scoops, chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted driver-side mirror, a switch-activated rear-mounted power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets with quad chrome tips. Silver-finished 15″ Rally wheels with chrome trim rings and hub covers are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial red-stripe tires showing 2021 date codes. The front brakes have been converted to discs and are accompanied by rear drums. The rear shocks and coil springs were replaced in April 2020. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in Saddle vinyl with matching door panels and a color-coordinated dash pad and carpets, the latter of which are overlaid with brown rubber mats. A Delco push-button AM radio and a locking glovebox are housed in the body-color lower dashboard, and additional equipment includes lap belts and vent windows. The four-spoke woodgrain steering wheel fronts a simulated engine-turned instrument panel housing a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a Rally clock, while a manifold-vacuum gauge is mounted on the center console ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, approximately 70 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown. The 389ci V8 features Tri-Power induction consisting of three Rochester two-barrel carburetors. An overhaul of the engine at Outlaw Racing Engines of Upland, California, in 2007 included: Align-honing and decking the block Resurfacing the cylinder heads Grinding and balancing the crankshaft Installing hardened exhaust valve seats Replacing the camshaft and lifters Replacing the valves and seals Replacing the main, connecting rod, and camshaft bearings Replacing the timing chain Replacing the oil pump drive assembly The factory three-row radiator was re-cored to a four-row unit in 2019, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale. Block code 77J corresponds to a 389ci V8 that was equipped with three two-barrel carburetors and paired with a Powerglide transmission for use in a GTO. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Turbo Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly sourced from a 1968 model and installed under previous ownership as well as a Safe-T-Track differential with a revised 3.73:1 final gear ratio. The reproduction window sticker lists delivery to Bill Barry Pontiac of Santa Ana, California, along with equipment and a total vehicle price of $3,364.
