This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was manufactured on October 19, 1965, and distributed new in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It is finished in cream over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, a stainless steel exhaust system, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a black soft top and top boot, and a Panasonic head unit. The car was acquired by the seller in 2018 and was previously listed on BaT in September 2020. Work performed since 2020 is said to have involved overhauling the alternator and replacing the voltage regulator and battery as well as replacing braking and clutch components. This Series I XKE roadster is offered in Canada with an uninstalled luggage rack, partial service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and British Columbia registration in the seller’s name. The car left the factory finished in Cream and was repainted under previous ownership. Details include a black soft top and top boot, chrome split bumpers, and a clamshell hood with louvers. The seller states that the door seals were replaced in 2020. Close-up images of exterior blemishes are provided in the gallery. Steel 15″ wire wheels feature two-ear knockoff spinners and are mounted with 195/65 Kelly Edge A/S tires that were reportedly installed in 2019. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the car rides on four-wheel independent suspension with torsion bars up front and coil springs at the rear. The primary brake cylinder and servo assembly were replaced and a brake flush was performed in preparation for the sale. The bucket seats are said to have been reupholstered in black leather in 1991, at which time the carpets and door panels were also replaced. A Panasonic head unit has been installed behind the leather and chrome removable cover plate. The clock does not work. A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The mechanical odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The turn signal return module was replaced in 2020, according to the seller. The twin-cam 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. Work performed since 2020 is said to have involved overhauling the alternator as well as replacing the battery and voltage regulator. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. The cylinder head stamping is shown above and matches the data plate stamping and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system. The primary clutch cylinder was replaced in preparation for the sale. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers as well as a completion date of October 19, 1965. Filed under: e type, e-type
