This 1967 BMW 1600-2 is said to have been converted to a race car when new and remained with its original owner until 1989, when it was acquired by Brecht Motorsports of San Diego, California. It was campaigned in SCCA, VARA, and HMSA events and was acquired by the current owner in 2023. Power is provided by a race-prepped 1.6-liter inline-four linked to a five-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with Weber 48DCOE carburetors, front disc brakes, 13″ alloy wheels, Eibach lowering springs, and a side-exit exhaust system in addition to a roll cage, an OMP racing seat, a MOMO steering wheel, composite rear windows, a fuel cell, and a fire suppression system. The selling dealer states that the car has not been run for several years and will require recommissioning prior to track use. This 1600-2 race car is now offered on dealer consignment in California with a bill of sale. The car is finished in white with blue and red #25 livery. The bumpers and headlights have been removed, and the car has black grilles, a side-exit exhaust outlet, hood and trunk-lid retention pins, and composite rear windows. Blemishes are depicted in the gallery below. Four-spoke 13″ alloy wheels are finished in black and mounted with 205/60 Hoosier tires, which need to be replaced, per the selling dealer. Eibach springs are fitted, and stopping is provided by front discs and rear drums. The stripped cabin is equipped with an Autopower roll cage and a single OMP racing seat fitted with an Impact harness. The car also has aluminum door cards and a fire suppression system. An expired fuel cell is mounted in the trunk, and the selling dealer notes that the seat and harness are also out of date. Plaques from various events are mounted to the dashboard. The MOMO steering wheel is adorned with tri-color accents and fronts a column-mounted shift light. Instrumentation includes a central 10k-rpm tachometer, a warning light, and gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, and water temperature. The car does not have a speedometer or an odometer, and total mileage is unknown. The replacement 1.6-liter inline-four is equipped with Weber 48DCOE carburetors, a remote oil filter, and a bright-finished valve cover. The selling dealer reports that the lower end was overhauled in 2018. An Airguide engine-hours meter mounted to the firewall shows 233 hours. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The car does not have a title or registration, as it is intended for track use only. It is being sold on a bill of sale.
