If you only glanced at the lead photo for this Mustang, you might dismiss it as another “Eleanor-style” movie-car clone, but look just a little longer and you’ll see something quite different. This Mustang hits the restomod approach hard and has a complete retrofit chassis from Schwartz Performance slipped underneath its unit-body structure. The new suspension uses coilover shocks, though it maintains a solid axle at the rear—a custom aftermarket 9-inch. The Ford Windsor-based engine reportedly incorporates some NASCAR bits in the form of Yates cylinder heads and other upgraded hardware, and feeds a Tremec six-speed. Outside are Shelby cues and inside are lots of custom touches and red upholstery. This one is wild, and while it may not appeal to Mustang purists, it checks a lot of the right boxes for enthusiasts immersed in today’s restomod movement. – TM

Comprehensively customized inside and out — and under the hood — this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback restomod has around 2,200 miles on its reportedly “no expenses spared” build. Highlights include a Schwartz Performance G-Machine chassis, contemporary coilover suspension elements, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and more. It’s also powered by a reportedly street-tuned version of a Robert Yates-based NASCAR Windsor small-block V8 engine that’s backed by a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The car has a custom interior with air conditioning and it also wears 18- and 20-inch Schott wheels. “It’s an over-the-top build in excellent condition,” says the selling dealer, who is representing the car on consignment.

  • The engine is a carbureted 331-cu.in. Windsor OHV V8 with Yates aluminum heads.
  • According to the seller, the engine is rated at 600 horsepower.
  • A Holley carburetor is mounted on an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold.
  • The carb pulls air from a custom air cleaner housing with air ducts drawn from the inner fenders.
  • NASCAR-type stainless-steel headers flow into a custom stainless dual exhaust system.
  • The exhaust system features 3-inch oval tubing.
  • Complementing the engine is a NASCAR aluminum radiator with twin 4,000-cfm electric fans.
  • Backing the engine is a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission.
  • It is matched with a lightened steel flywheel and transmits torque to a 9-inch rear axle.
  • Additional details include an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential with 4.11 gears.
  • The 9-inch center section is mounted in a T.D.S. fabricated housing.
  • On the exterior, the restored body was repainted a custom Pearl Gray color with Viper Red stripes.
  • It also wears a Shelby-style front fascia and a Shelby-style hood, along with Shelby-style taillights.
  • The exhaust system exits through custom outlets in the lower-rear quarter panels.
  • The seller reports no blemishes in the finish and all the exterior trim elements appear excellent.
  • Inside, red leather upholstery and additional red highlights contrast with gray carpet and other trim.
  • There’s also a custom center console with cup holders, covered storage, and more.
  • The car has air conditioning, Dakota Digital VHX gauges, and power windows.
  • It also has a custom sound system with a Kenwood head unit.
  • In the trunk is a 20-gallon fuel cell and an Optima battery.
  • A Schwartz Performance G-Machine chassis is the car’s foundation and it is powder coated red.
  • Suspension components include Ridetech coilover-shocks, front and rear.
  • The original shock towers were removed with the installation of the front coilovers.
  • There’s also a rack-and-pinion steering system and Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes.

  • Thirteen-inch front and rear rotors are slotted and cross-drilled.
  • All the brake and fuel lines are stainless steel.
  • The car rides on Schott wheels, measuring 18 x 9 inches in front and 20 x 10 inches in the rear.
  • Tires sizes are 255/40R18 in the front and 335/30R20 in the rear.
  • Nothing additional is included.
  • There are no reported needs for this restomod Mustang.
  • There are around 2,200 miles on the ground-up build of this Mustang Fastback restomod.
  • The Schwartz Performance chassis has coilovers, disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering.
  • Powertrain details include a NASCAR-derived 331-cu.in. Windsor V8 with Yates heads and more.
  • There’s also a T-56 six-speed transmission and a custom 9-inch rear axle with 4.11 gears.
  • The exterior and interior have been customized with Shelby cues, red accents, and more.

The selling dealer states that it will provide a clean Florida title in the consignor’s name. There doesn’t appear to be a square inch of this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback restomod that wasn’t touched during the build — and with less than 2,000 miles on it, the car’s construction still appears fresh. According to the seller, no expense was spared in its comprehensive makeover and it shows.
