This 1968 Porsche 912 is a soft-window Targa that was built in July 1967 and spent time in the US before being relocated to Portugal following the current owner’s acquisition in 2018. A subsequent refurbishment involved body panel repairs, a repaint in red, an interior refresh using black leatherette upholstery, an overhaul of the suspension and brakes, and a rebuild of the replacement 1.6-liter flat-four and five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a soft rear window, a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, 15″ steel wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a push-button radio. This soft-window 912 is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Lisbon, Portugal, with a copy of the Kardex, refurbishment photos, and Portuguese registration. Finished from the factory in Polo Red (6802), the body was stripped to bare metal and received panel repairs before being repainted under current ownership. The soft rear window was replaced at that time, and features include body-color bumpers with overriders, a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable roof panel, a zip-open rear window, a driver-side mirror, and polished trim with rubber moldings. Silver 15″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are wrapped in 165/80 Hankook tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and the car is equipped with Koni dampers. The suspension and brake system were overhauled during the refurbishment. The cabin houses two bucket seats and a rear bench that were reupholstered in black leatherette under current ownership and are complemented black carpets and refurbished door panels. Amenities include front headrests, brushed metal trim, a locking glove compartment, lap belts, a clock, and a push-button radio. A factory-optional wood-rimmed steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that was refurbished under current ownership and includes a central tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, a 120-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement 1.6L flat-four was overhauled during the refurbishment and was factory rated at 90 horsepower and 91 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with dual Solex carburetors that were also refurbished under current ownership. The third member of the engine case has been machined and re-stamped with number *1085038* above the “Made in Germany” casting. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle with a dog-leg shift pattern. The transaxle was overhauled during current ownership, and the serial number stamping and can be viewed in the gallery along with additional photos of the underside. A copy of the Kardex notes distribution by Pon’s in Amersfoort, Netherlands, and lists the factory colors and powertrain numbers. Photos taken during the refurbishment process can be viewed in the gallery below.
