1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

The model year 1960 brought the Chevrolet pickup into the modern era with its C/K series lineup. ? The ''C'' designation identified two-wheel-drive pickups, and the ''K'' identified 4X4s.? The most common pickup was the C10, a half-ton truck with a 6.5- or 8-foot cargo box.? The C/K series trucks remained essentially the same vehicle during a series of conservative redesigns, until 1997, when the 1998 Silverado replaced it.

Chevrolet produces some of the finest trucks on the planet and has been doing so for a long time.? Within each model range their avid fans, and this 1969 iteration is no exception.? A former run of the mill base model hauler, now treated to an amateur restoration and looking good with the desirable short bed and all the Chevrolet good looks.? Add in a 350ci V8 with some goodies and you have a truck modified definitely for the better, we have a winner!? Bingo.

Exterior
Finished in a yellow respray, there are some waves in the bodywork, areas of bodywork cracking, a few rust bubbles, runs in the paint and areas of touch ups around the gaps, but the paint remains presentable.? The chrome is in overall good condition along with badging and trim, however the front bumper appears tweaked in on the driver's side.? Also up front, single headlights in a chrome bezel flank a chrome tie bar across the egg crate grille and above a blue bowtie embellishment leads the way to the long steel hood.? In the shortbox steel bed, we note nice yellow paint for the sides and wheel houses and making up the bed floor are weathered oak planks with wood colored delineation strips.? While the wood is definitely? showing some age wear, it remains strong. ? 15-inch black steel wheels are on all 4 corners trimmed with bowtie emblazoned dog dish caps and are wrapped in deeply treaded raised white letter BF rubber.

Interior
Very original inside with like new black door panels, nice door handles and cranks and a yellow steel surround.? king inside, there is an original bench seat with dark brown vinyl tuck and roll inserts and vinyl bolsters both in black.? This bench is showing a serious amount of wear with the vinyl material peeling and seam separation noted on both the upper and lower cushion.? A late model GMC tilt steering column with 4 spoke steering wheel fronts the original dash.? A brown padded top all steel dash, which matches the exterior houses the original gauge cluster, heater controls, and an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette stereo.? The glove box door sits in front of the passenger, while black rubber matting, in lightly soiled but good condition, floods the floors, and above we note a simple ribbed steel headliner.

Drivetrain
der the long heavy steel hood sits a non original 350ci V8.? This sits in a clean but patinaed engine bay, and y 4-barrel carburetor sits atop.? A 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission is attached to the back of this powerful engine and a 12-bolt rear is also noted.? Scanning the engine bay we see chrome valve covers, a chrome air cleaner lid and the addition of air conditioning for those hot summer drives.

dercarriage
The strong black and surface rusted frame provides the backbone for the nicely finished wood and steel underside of the bed and road drip splattered cab.? We note a few areas of invasive rust in the cross members along with rust appearing in the inner wheelhouses.? We also see power disc brakes and an independent coil spring front suspension working in conjunction with leaf spring rear suspension.? Dual exhaust with stock style mufflers feeds down and snakes its way to the rear of the truck.

Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and this engine came to life with a throaty growl.? Slipping the selector into D and we were off to the races, or rather the Classic to l acreage, where the transmission shifted smoothly, exhibited no hesitation in the engine, and gave a typical truck ride.? The interior proved to be comfortable but we could not get the heater blower to blow and the AC did not blow cold.

An amateur quality restoration with many new parts applied to this very desirable bodied truck.? A few faults on the paint and bodywork front but overall, a nice job, and we have a truck available for the 69 era C-10 fans.
