This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series 1.5 coupe that was built on July 10, 1968, dispatched to Canada the following August, and acquired by its current owner in 1998. A subsequent overhaul was carried out by the selling dealer starting in approximately 2010, with the work including a repaint in Opalescent Silver Blue and a rebuild of its 4.2-liter inline-six as well as installation of a new wiring harness, black leather upholstery, and more. Shifting is through a four-speed manual gearbox, and the car features a Webasto sunroof, a RetroSound stereo, a larger-capacity radiator, and an aftermarket exhaust system. This XKE is offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment records, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and Ontario registration. The Series 1.5 XKE featured open headlights similar to those of the Series II along with taillights mounted above the rear bumperettes as seen on the preceding S1 cars. Originally finished in Pale Primrose Yellow, this example was stripped to bare metal and repainted in Opalescent Silver Blue following completion of bodywork in 2010. New exterior chrome was also added. An aftermarket Webasto sunroof was fitted in 2008 and is shown both open and closed in the gallery below. The selling dealer notes the presence of paint chips on the lower body surfaces. Chrome 72-spoke wire wheels are wrapped in redline tires, and disc brakes are equipped all around. Black leather seats with lap belts are complemented by matching carpets, door panels, and branded rubber mats. Series II-style rocker switches on the dash control the lights and interior functions. A RetroSound stereo and speakers have been added. A factory wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges monitoring voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. Just under 74k miles are indicated on the five-digit odometer, approximately 20k of which were added under current ownership. The 4.2-liter inline-six is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment and features triple SU carburetors. A replacement wiring harness and a larger-capacity radiator from a V12-powered car were also installed. Additional underside photos capturing the suspension and aftermarket exhaust system are viewable in the gallery, as are a handful showing the body and chassis during the refurbishment process. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors as well as the chassis, engine, and body numbers. The certificate also notes that the car was dispatched to Canada on August 7, 1968. Filed under: e type, e-type
