This 1970 Porsche 914 was built by the late Gordon Barron and was later modified by Rothsport Road and Race of Sherwood, Oregon for use in competitive racing events. The car is finished in orange with GT-style bodywork, and power is provided by a 2.7L flat-six paired with a 901 five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 15″ Fuchs wheels, disc brakes, a roll cage, modified suspension with Bilstein shocks and Motion Control coilovers, and more as detailed below. This 914 race car is now offered on dealer consignment in Oregon with partial service records and a bill of sale. The car was built by the late Gordon Barron and later modified by Rothsport Road and Race as a tribute to Ritchie Ginther’s 1970 914. Equipment includes GT-style bodywork, a short windscreen, and a 914/6 rear decklid. A repaint in tangerine orange has been carried out, and additional equipment includes a multi-point roll cage, custom mirrors, fiberglass bumpers, and door numbers. 15″ Fuchs wheels measure 6″ wide and are wrapped in Hoosier R6 racing tires. The suspension features Bilstein RSR shocks up front and Motion Control coilovers out back. Five-lug 911 hubs and brakes have also been added along with cooling ducts and upgraded lines. The interior is fitted with a custom Rothsport roll cage along with a single racing seat and Schroth harness. Cockpit features include a custom shifter, a rearview mirror, and a kill switch. The harness and fire equipment are reportedly expired and in need of replacement. A three-spoke MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of a 9k-rpm tachometer and gauges to monitor oil pressure and oil temperature. A VDO engine-hour counter is mounted in the custom dashboard and displays 33 hours. The 911-sourced 2.7L flat-six features a 7R case, dual carburetors, and an Electromotive twin-plug ignition system. Additional equipment includes a GT-style center-mounted oil cooler, 914/6-style oil tank, and lightweight battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 901 five-speed manual transaxle with close-ratio gears and a limited-slip differential. A custom exhaust system has also been added, and additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
