This 1971 Maserati Bora is one of 524 examples built between 1971 and 1978, and it was modified in the early 1990s in the style of a Group 4 race car. Finished in red over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. Modifications include quadruple Weber 48IDF carburetors, a ported intake manifold, forged Ross Racing pistons, Auto Verdi racing-style connecting rods, fabricated exhaust headers, an MSD electronic ignition system, widened rear fenders, plexiglass rear windows, 15″ magnesium wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. The car is said to have spent time in Belgium, the UK, and Sweden before being acquired by the current owner in 2017, and the water pump was replaced in 2021. This modified Bora shows 85k kilometers (~53k miles) and is offered by the seller in Uppsala, Sweden, on behalf of the current owner with a Swedish Certificate of Registration in the owner’s name. During the refurbishment, the paint was stripped, the bumpers and headlight buckets were removed, wider rear fenders and plexiglass rear windows were installed, vents were added to the hood, and the Giugiaro-designed body was repainted red. Additional details include dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance as well as chrome side mirrors and door handles and gray lower body cladding. Close-up images of paint cracks are shown in the gallery. The hood latch release handle is broken and replacements are included in the sale. Magnesium 15″ wheels are mounted with 225/50 front and 345/35 rear Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico tires. During the refurbishment, the Citröen-sourced hydraulic braking system was removed and replaced with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with yellow-finished calipers. The fixed-back bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather during the refurbishment and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include a wooden shift knob, power-operated windows, Maserati-branded floor mats, and Bora dashboard badging. The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 300-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The mechanical odometer shows 85k kilometers (~53k miles), approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 is said to have been modified in the early 1990s with the installation of four Weber 48IDF carburetors, a ported intake manifold, forged Ross Racing pistons, Total Seal piston rings, Auto Verdi racing-style connecting rods, stainless-steel fabricated exhaust headers, an MSD electronic ignition system, and fabricated valves with angled valve seats. The water pump was replaced in 2021 according to the seller, and a compression test was performed in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery. The chassis number 117024 can be seen on the data tag above, and the VIN AM117024 is listed on the current Swedish Certificate of Registration.
