This 1972 Datsun 240Z was acquired by the seller in 2010, and subsequent work consisted of stripping the body, repairing rust, repainting the body, rewiring the car, and installing a fiberglass hood, rear hatch, bumpers, and fender extensions as well as an eight-point roll cage, and Lexan rear and quarter windows. The car is powered by a 383ci stroker V8 mated to a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission and is finished in green. Additional features include a removable Nardi steering wheel, AutoMeter instrumentation, racing seats, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley 750-cfm carburetor, a Mcleod clutch and pressure plate, staggered 16″ Diamond Racing wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, adjustable front control arms, roll center adjusters, and adjustable coilovers. This Datsun 240Z is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. Bodywork under current ownership is said to have consisted of repairing rust and replacing the battery tray, floors, rails, A-pillars, rear quarter panels, dog legs, and rockers as well as installing a fiberglass hood, front fenders, rear hatch, bumpers, and fender extensions. The car left the factory finished in Avacado Green (113) and was repainted under current ownership. Features include a satin black-finished tail panel, bumpers, and front valance. Aerocatch hood and hatch latches have been fitted along with a Lexan rear hatch and quarter windows. The wiper arms and motor have been removed, the tail lamp chrome is peeling, and other imperfections are shown up close in the gallery. The Lexan windows leak. The staggered Diamond Racing wheels are mounted with Toyo Proxes R888 tires measuring 245/45 up front and 255/55 out back. The suspension has been modified under current ownership with aftermarket adjustable front control arms, roll center adjusters, and steering knuckles as well as T3 drop mounts, rear control arms, camber plates, and adjustable coilovers. An upgraded master cylinder, engine bay-mounted proportioning valve, and stainless steel brake lines are said to have been installed, and stopping power is provided by Wilwood front and Toyota rear disc brake setups. An eight-point roll cage is said to have been installed by ASC Fabrication in Santee, California, and the cabin features a Kirkey Racing aluminum driver seat with a Schroth six-point harness and a black Corbeau passenger seat with a Corbeau four-point harness. The car was re-wired under current ownership and a flocked dashboard, racing-style wide mirror, heat shielding, and vinyl floor covering have been fitted. The Braille battery has been relocated to the rear of the vehicle. The dashboard is cracked in the center. The removable Nardi wood steering wheel frames an AutoMeter speedometer and tachometer. Matching auxiliary gauges are mounted above the center stack and within the center console. The speedometer is disconnected and the fuel gauge reads incorrectly. Total mileage is unknown. The 383ci stroker V8 was installed under current ownership and features an Edelbrock single-plane high-rise intake manifold, a Holley 750-cfm carburetor, an electric water pump, aluminum cylinder heads, heat-wrapped block-hugger headers, multiple AN fitting lines, and an MSD electronic ignition, Pro Billet distributor, and Spiral Race spark plug wires. Cooling is handled by an oversized aftermarket aluminum radiator with an electric fan. A chassis dyno video and results sheet are shown below. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission. A McLeod clutch and pressure plate are said to have been installed under current ownership. The frame rail is bent on the left front side as well as the radiator brace. There are areas of rust on the underside. The chassis plate displays serial number HLS3099146, and VIN HLS53099146 listed on the California title includes an extra digit.
