This 1973 Pontiac Grand Safari is a nine-passenger station wagon that was sold new by Stevens Pontiac-GMC of Los Gatos, California, in June 1973 and spent time in various states until its acquisition by the current owner in November 2020. The car is powered by a 455ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Valencia Gold over beige vinyl. It features woodgrain exterior paneling, powered accessories, third row seating, and a Kenwood CD player. This Grand Safari is now offered on dealer consignment in Michigan at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, prior sales paperwork, service records, period registration cards, and a clean Illinois title. This example was refinished in its factory Valencia Gold (60) under prior ownership according to the selling dealer, who notes blistering in the finish below the headlights. Features include a woodgrain appliqué along the body sides and tailgate, body-color side mirrors, a chrome luggage rack, and an electrically operated tailgate that retracts into the body. The 15″ Rally II wheels are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich white-letter tires showing 2013 date codes. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and brakes. The cabin is trimmed in beige vinyl accented with woodgrain trim on the dashboard and the radio surround. Factory equipment includes a power-adjustable front bench seat and an AM/FM radio, while an aftermarket Kenwood CD player is housed within a custom center console. The car is equipped with air conditioning, although the system is disconnected according to the selling dealer. Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, with actual mileage unknown. The cargo area houses a third-row bench seat that can be folded flush with the load floor and is accessed via a powered two-piece tailgate that is said to require physical assistance to operate according to the selling dealer. The W-code 455ci V8 has a four-barrel carburetor and produced 215 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 2,400 rpm when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed Hyrda-Matic automatic transmission. Additional photos showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as corrosion on portions of the mechanicals, are presented in the gallery below. Items accompanying the sale include owner’s manuals, service receipts, and ownership paperwork as well as prior registration cards.
