This 1973 Porsche 914 has been built into a 914-6 GT tribute and prepped for participation in Vintage Racer Group (VRG) events, though it also remains street legal. The car was previously the 2009 California PCA autocross champion and won the 2011 Targa Newfoundland endurance rally after being acquired by the seller nine years ago. Power is from a 2.0L flat-six rebuilt 300 miles ago by TKX Performance with JE pistons, Biral cylinders, 40mm PMO carburetors, and more. Shifting is through a 901 5-speed manual transaxle, and additional equipment includes a fiberglass hood, trunk, and fenders, as well as a roll cage, racing seats, and fuel cell. This 914 is now being offered with PCA and VRG logbooks, partial records, a set of Cibie driving lights, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name. A fiberglass hood, deck lid, and GT-style fender flares have been installed. The front bumper is painted black and orange, and hood pins and additional rear latches have been added. Body, paint, and interior work was performed by Steve Limbert from Aircooled Racing of Pennsylvania. Corrosion around the windshield is shown in the gallery below. The car rides on a staggered combination of 15” Fuchs wheels up front and Minilite-style wheels out back, with a matching set of Hoosier tires that have reportedly seen less than 100 miles of use. A set of four Cibie driving lights is included in the sale. The stripped cabin features a roll cage and racing seats with Simpson harnesses. Additional equipment consists of a 3-spoke Sparco steering wheel, Terratrip rally computer, and ignition kill switch. Factory gauges include a 5-digit odometer showing 31k miles. The ATL fuel cell was refreshed in 2017, and a signature from racing legend Vic Elford is visible under the front trunk. The 2.0L flat-six was reportedly rebuilt 300 miles ago by TKX Performance of Huntington Station, New York. The work is said to have included the following: JE pistons Biral cylinders Resurfaced cylinder heads Custom-ground camshaft Upgraded timing chain tensioner Accusump lubrication system New oil tank, cooler, and pump Crankcase oil bypass modifications 40mm PMO carburetors Porsche sport exhaust MSD Blaster 2 ignition The car has completed two track events at Lime Rock Park and New Jersey Motorsports Park since the rebuild. The carburetors were cleaned and adjusted and an oil change was performed in October 2017. Several photos from the build are provided in the gallery, and logbooks from PCA and VRG accompany the car.
