1974 Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupe

This 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV race car was built in 1991 by Alfa specialist Gary Valant of Valco Enterprises for use in historic race events. It was featured on BaT in September 2008 and sold on BaT in February 2018 before being acquired by the selling dealer on BaT in May 2021. The car is finished in a tri-color red, white, and green paint scheme, and power is provided by a dry-sump 2.0-liter twin-spark inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a roll cage, an OMP racing bucket seat with a Crow Safety Gear five-point harness, a halon fire-suppression system, dual Weber carburetors, an AutoMeter Pro-Control system, an ATL fuel cell, custom exhaust headers, ATE brake calipers with cross-drilled Brembo rotors, a sliding-block rear suspension, and 15″ Panasport Racing wheels. Service under current ownership is said to have included re-sealing the rear axle, replacing the tires, and updating the safety equipment. This GTV race car is now offered by the selling dealer in Colorado with build sheets, an SCCA logbook, and a bill of sale. The body is fitted with fiberglass fender flares that have been blended into the steel bodywork, and the car was repainted in a tri-color red, white, and green paint scheme under previous ownership. Blemishes include a wheel rub mark on the left quarter panel, a mismatched section of green paint on the left fender, and stone chips on the front fascia. Panasport Racing Wheels measuring 15×7″ wear Toyo Proxes R888 R competition tires that were mounted under current ownership. The front suspension consists of a tubular sway bar with aluminum drop supports and adjustable Heim-jointed upper control arms, while the rear is equipped with a sliding-block design fabricated at Valco with solid bushings in the rear trailing arms. Ward & Dean springs and F&S gas shocks are fitted all around. Braking is handled by ATE calipers fitted over cross-drilled Brembo rotors. Updates to the race-prepped cabin include an OMP racing seat with a fiberglass shell upholstered in black AIRTEX fabric in addition to a five-way latch-and-link harness from Crow Safety Gear that is valid through 2023. Additional equipment includes a rev-monitoring AutoMeter Pro-Control system, a five-panel rearview mirror, a custom shifter, a driver-side window net, and a custom oil sump mounted in place of a passenger seat. Handwritten notes detailing car setup are found on the right door panel. The Fire Bottle halon fire-suppression system requires recertification. A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a modified dash panel with an Auto Meter Sport-Comp tachometer and gauges for oil temperature, fuel pressure, water temperature, and exhaust gas temperature. A Lambda sensor monitors the fuel/air mixture. No odometer is present, and total mileage is unknown. An older ATL fuel cell is mounted in the trunk alongside a custom battery box. The 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four features a ported eight-valve twin-spark cylinder head, 12:1 Venolia pistons, Carillo rods, and Megacycle camshafts as well as a cross-drilled hardened crankshaft and a Quarter Master lightweight flywheel. The Weber 45 DCOE carburetors are equipped with velocity stacks, and Valco-fabricated equal-length headers are connected to a straight pipe exhaust that exits ahead of the right rear wheel. Power is sent to rear wheels through a five-speed transmission with a 5.5″ dual-plate clutch and 90% locking limited-slip differential with 4.56:1 gearing. The selling dealer states that the rear axle was resealed during current ownership.
