This 1975 BMW 3.0CS was modified in the style of a 3.0CSL Group 4 race car during an 18-year build that was completed in 2016, and it is powered by a 3.5L Hartge H6SP inline-six equipped with mechanical fuel injection and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car has been fitted with “Batmobile”-style aerodynamic bodywork and wears a Chamonix finish with painted BMW Motorsport livery. The race-prepped cabin houses a roll cage, a custom dash, Sparco racing seats with harnesses, kill switches, and a fire suppression system. Additional equipment includes 18″ Fikse wheels, Porsche 993 RSR brake calipers, custom-valved Bilstein shocks, polyurethane suspension bushings, a Fuel Safe fuel cell, Stahl headers, and a straight-pipe exhaust system. This E9 race car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered in New York with a bill of sale. The car was fitted with CSL “Batmobile”-style bodywork during the build, which included a widened front air dam, fender flares, a roof spoiler, a rear wing, and a decklid spoiler. It was refinished in Chamonix with painted BMW Motorsport-style livery and various decals. The 18″ Fikse PROFIL-5S wheels are mounted with 285/645 front and 305/680 rear Pirelli P Zero slicks. Braking is handled by Porsche 993 RSR-style calipers with two-piece vented rotors and stainless-steel lines at each corner. Custom-valved Bilstein shocks, adjustable springs, and polyurethane bushings have been installed. The cabin has been stripped and fitted with a full roll cage with door bars along with dual Sparco Circuit racing seats with matching Schroth harnesses that expired in 2013. Kill switches for the fuel pumps and a fire suppression system have also been added, along with a custom dash and center console housing a tall anodized blue shifter, a push-button start, and rocker switches for vehicle functions. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted on a quick release hub and fronts aftermarket gauges including an 8k-rpm tachometer and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, battery voltage, fuel pressure, and air/fuel ratio. No speedometer or odometer are installed, and total mileage is unknown. The 3.5L Hartge H6SP inline-six was installed during the build and features a mechanical fuel injection system with velocity stacks, Stahl headers, and a straight-pipe exhaust system that exits below the passenger door. The fuel cell and fuel injection pump were replaced by the selling dealer and the fuel injectors were refurbished. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 265 five-speed manual transmission reportedly sourced from an E12 535i. A heavy-duty clutch and lightweight flywheel are said to be fitted. The car is not registered or titled, and it is being sold on a bill of sale.
