This 1976 Aston Martin V8 is one of a claimed 970 Series III units produced in Newport Pagnell between 1973 and 1978. The car is a left-hand-drive unit that was completed in November 1976 and sold new in Beverly Hills, California. Finished in blue over a blue leather interior, it is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes four Weber carburetors, 15″ GKN wheels, a hood scoop, a rear spoiler, a heater, and power windows and door locks. The car was brought to Canada following its acquisition by the seller in the mid-2010s, and subsequent service involved electrical work as well as installation of a replacement heater valve. This V8 Series III is now offered in Canada with an Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate, an instruction book, a service manual, and British Columbia registration. The body is said to have been repainted in its current shade of blue under previous ownership in 2010. Exterior details include a hood scoop, fender vents, polished trim, a rear spoiler, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Close-up photos showing blemishes in the paint are presented in the gallery. The 15″ GKN alloy wheels are wrapped with 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with speed-sensitive power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear units. The car was delivered with front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in blue leather (RV 6209) upholstery and Onslow Blue carpets. Additional appointments include a dash-mounted VDO clock, a heater, a fire extinguisher, and power windows and door locks. The heater valve is said to have been replaced under current ownership, and the air conditioning system and Blaupunkt radio are inoperative. Creasing is noted on the front seating surfaces. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil temperature, water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership. The Tadek Marek-designed 5.3-liter V8 is equipped with dual overhead camshafts and four downdraft Weber carburetors. Factory rated output was 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Service performed in September 2019 included rebuilding the alternator, cleaning the distributor cap, and replacing the battery. The seller notes an oil leak. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Chrysler Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission. The car features a dual exhaust system, and the catalytic converters have been removed. The Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors and equipment as well as a build date of November 21, 1976. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country that does not issue titles. It is being sold on its registration.
